What harness is in your car?

What brand harnesses are you hard-core track guys running? I'm looking for feedback on comfort, fit, and pricing on 5 point cam-lock style harnesses. Also if you are using harness pads with them or not. The time has come to step up to better safety equipment and I want to do it right the first time. I'll be putting a rollbar in the car to mount the harnesses to, btw. This is for HPDE 4/TT events. Thanks!

992, when you say roll bar, do you just mean the high bar, or the whole cage? I ask, because my HPDE3 lead instructor was evaluating me for HPDE4 and said that he'd feel much better if I had some safety equipment. He said to at least get a high roll bar and some harnesses, since I have nothing but a helmet right now.

Warr, sounds like we both had similar conversations this weekend; I bumped to HPDE 4 also. My group leader almost wouldn't get in my car with just the 3 point harnesses. He gave me a very stern lecture about my speed and the consequences of an unforseen event. I am going to a local guy next week to get a quote for a custom rollbar. Just like the autopower unit more or less. If you get a cage, make sure it is legal per NASA's CCR if that's the group you're running with. There isn't a 'cage requirement' in HPDE 4/TT, but if you have a cage in any class, it must be CCR legal.

WP, do you have anymore pics of your rollbar setup/install? I thought you posted some, but I couldn't find them???

You keep saying rollbar. I'm trying to confirm if you mean a whole cage or just a rollbar. Which do you plan on doing? I can't do a cage on my daily driver with baby seat in the rear (yet).

Warr, this is a rollbar:

I am using a Schroth Profi II ASM harness. Which has FIA certification and can also later be upgraded to a 5 or 6 point when I get a race seat.

Warr, a rollcage is the full cage front, rear and sides in the car. Roll bar is above.

You might be thinking of a harness bar which is just a horz bar that bolts to each side upper belt bolts and is easily removable for when you want back seat passengers or a baby seat in the back.

couple more pics in here.

I couldn't justify a full custom cage, and i honestly got the roll bar, because i needed a harness bar/camera mount, and it was just a bit more to actually have SOME kind of protection that a roll bar offers, rather than NO real protection that a harness bar gives in the case of a roll over.

Rollbar = rollbar. No cage here. I wouldn't do a cage in the car I drive on the street 80% of the time anyway. We are going to try and design something with some removable sections so I can still use the back seat. We'll see what happens...

Thanks for the pics guys. I heard the G-Force belts have unusually 'hard' edges, are the Schroth and Simpson belts comfortable?

I've used both schroth and simpson, both with pads, and no problems.

However, when you're strapped in, you're IN THERE, there is no way you're gonna come out, esp with the bucket seats.
