Thumbs up Friday 8/18 Buttonwillow HPDE - only $175!

Leadfoot Adventures is having a track day at Buttonwillow Raceway on Friday August 18th, and reg is pretty cheap at only $175 for the people who sign up early. This event will sell out though, so you might want to register pretty quick.

If you’ve never done a track day before and you’re curious about what it would be like to drive your Evo on a real racetrack, this event is for you! Seasoned drivers are definitely welcome in the faster intermediate and advanced sessions, but the newest drivers will get special attention. Leadfoot Adventures has a great group of very experienced drivers who will be instructing the rookies both in classroom sessions and out on track. Check out the “Rookie Jump Start” page at leadfootadventures.com for more info if you’re new to the scene.

For those of you who know Buttonwillow, we’ll be running the #13 track configuration, which includes both the “Lost Hill” and “Bus Stop” segments. In the counter-clockwise direction, the exit of the sweeper and entry into the Bus Stop is freakin’ awesome.

Surely a bunch of you have driven Buttonwillow before because I always see Evo's at the track days I go to. What's your favorite turn at this track?

Entering off ramp from cotton corner is very tricky, late apex would help. I'd suggest to run #13 CW, more fun and challenge!

Too hot in august for me! Great track though. I just don't touch it from June to the end of Sept.

I love hitting talledega to lost hills.

Nope, no Buttonhook this time. Maybe next time. We have a Sunday date in December that we might do it. #13 clockwise is real fun too though, as Simon mentioned.

Hey, any of you fellas signed up yet?

There will be as many as 75 total cars in the basic 3 run groups: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced. We might add a 4th group for instructors only, or if the event doesn't sell out we might squeeze them into the advanced group. It all depends on how many people sign up at the three basic skill levels. Either way you'll be getting about 2 hours of track time per run group, as is normal for well-run HPDE events. The goal is for less than 25 cars to be on track at one time.

The early-bird pricing has been extended, so if you're on the fence you have until Sunday August 12th to save your spot on the grid for only $175. If you're new to the track we'll provide you with an instructor at no extra charge.

As promised, we've secured a discount rate at the Willow Inn for both Thursday and Friday nights. Whether you stay one or both nights, tell them Leadfoot Adventures sent ya and the rate will be $46.95+tax. Check in is after 2pm. The gal said the normal rate is $54.95 on Thursday and $59.95 on Friday, so that's not a bad price break we’re getting.

We'll be getting together at the Willow Ranch restaurant on Thursday evening to get something to eat and hang out. Hope you can join us.

With about 10 days to go we still have some room on the grid. If you think you can make it, please register while there's still room.

BTW, the weather forecast is for a high in the mid-90's, which isn't all that hot.

I like CCW better. #25 is my favorite.

If I can get the day off work, I will try to show up.
