What are you guys using for oil while racing? I usualy run Mobil 1 10w30 but i think iwould like to run something a little thicker while at the track. Anyone use like a 40weight or 50weight? Ideas welcome thanx!

I've been running redline 10-40 since I bought the car new last year at events and on the street. I usually change the oil before and after the event just for insurance.

You guys dont think that a little thicker stuff would help combat oil starvation and what not? I mean for example on the dyno my car got hot and i could hear alot more valvetrain noise. a thirty weight oil gets pretty thin i think twords the end of like a 20m session.

a dyno is far different from the track.

On the dyno, fans blowing, i wanted to do a 4th gear run. Staying out of that gas, by the time i got to 4th gear, my water temp is 210+. You simply get no airflow, and it gets HOT QUIIIIIIIIIIICK.

on track? never see over 210-215, normally in the 190 range.

As I mentioned, I ran the ASMoil 1030 and after two days of HPDE and oil temps over 250*, it still had that golden color to it.

I dunno, my oil temp went over 280F on the track this weekend, and that was only a 15 minute session. On the cool down lap it immediately dropped to about 220-240 but I'm thinking the next time I track the car I'm gonna run something a little thicker or look for some type of aftermarket oil cooler of some type.

Of course my reading may be somewhat off as I'm using a Defi D guage using the stock sender, I'll be changing that out asap as well...

DAMN. yeah, i think it's a reading issue, although g-man is small though, i dunno, that seems a bit high though.

Search under me and oil cooler and you'll see what i'm runnin, it's a setrab, denser, only had it out once on track though, so true test isn't 100%.

Yeah i'm kinda concerned about it. I'm hoping it's just the sender because it reads in the 220+ sitting in traffic.

Is that the thread with all the fighting back and forth? I just read that one

THe Evo shouldn't need an aftermarket cooler for only 15 mins...

Get the new sender and see what happens.

I'll put the new sender in and check it out. I'm thinking the stock sender is reading wrong for this guage. We'll see what happens.
