I use the Gforce pro seriese 6pt harness with my stock seats. I just bolt the two sub belts to the two front bolts holding my seat down. I have no issues at all. I also cross the two sub belts so they arent too wide between my legs. I also know many people that do the same thing with stock seats.

Any pics? I don't think the front seat bolts are a good spot to mount the sub belts, they should be close to vertical IIRC. I would like to see how/where you went through the seat though, if you don't mind.

This is not a safe setup. I wish the guy who worked for Schroth USA still posted here. You may not have issues now but in the event of a crash you might get seriously injured!

Tsurara- yeah, ha, ha, my Bride artis III is TIGHT and I'm only 5'9" and 160 with a 33" waist!

Agreed, my research I've seen has said that you either do the whole smack (roll bar, non-reclinable bucket, etc..) or nothing. Since you're primarily looking to stabilize your cg, you may just want to try that cg-lock thing that cinches up your factory 3-point...not sure of safety conserns with that though.

I would agree with you if there was any difference between bolting the sub belt to bolts in the floor or bolts in the floor holding the seat down. Same difference... the only difference is that the sub belts are slightly wider than if I were to drill holes and mount directly to the floor.

I would post pics but my car is on the trailer and a pain to get in. I will post pics at some point soon.

The front seat bolts are too far forward for proper mounting of the sub belts. It's recommended that the sub belts are mounted from 0 to 20 degrees rearward of vertical and 4 inches apart.

There is a difference. A 6 point substrap is supposed to be mounted at the chest line and then come up through the seat. It is NOT supposed to come forward like on a 5 point system. I also wouldnt trust the studs in the front of the seat to not strip on impact. There is a reason that the guys running the big boy races drill the floor.

I spent a lot of time calling "race shops / safety equip retailers" around the country the past two days. You would be amazed, not a single one said the 6-point subs go through the hole in the seat bottom. They all said to run them back to the 3-point OEM belt mounting points w/ the lap belts.

Sparco manual says to "use OEM anchors if possible for lap belts", but says to drill the floor to "run the subs vertical or back 20 degrees, and mount 4" apart on the floor"

Yup...which takes me back to my original point from post #8.

Here is a good article which gives an overview and provides a great start for research of this topic:

Most people are far more concerned with spending money adding power than preventing injury [or are just too lazy to do it]...so they install half of the proper system. Since they have "gotten away with it" so far, they argue that their system is fine and they have no issues. Hit an earth burm or wall at 70mph and then tell me whether you have issues.

Heed our words people. If you are too lazy to do it right, then factory belt and cg-lock is for you. Notice Dario Franchitti wearing the proper system here:

Consensus seems to be that unless you're fully caged, and using anti-submarine belts then its unsafe to run a fixed back racing seat and/or a racing harness whether its latch type or cam lock?
