Evo takes 1st in AS by over 3 sec!
Evo takes 1st in AS by almost 3 sec!
Ok, so the competition was a little weak (only 4 other drivers in AS), but it was my first AX in a year and a half and I was on the factory tires and alignment. For reference, my time would have placed me:
5th out of 9 in SS
10th out of 14 in BS
3rd out of 16 in STX
2d out 18 in STS
9th out of 20 in SM
3rd out of 12 in SM2
My PAX rank was 79th out of 206 (223 supposedly ran, so I was probably actually 79/223).
Just wait until:
- I get race rubber
- get an alignment
- scrape off some more rust
- figure out this AWD stuff
And if we speculate, and say all that stuff would be worth 1 sec (probably conservative), then I would have finished:
3rd ot of 9 in SS
4th out of 14 in BS
2d out of 16 in STX
2d out of 18 in STS
7th out of 20 in SM
2d out of 12 in SM2
And if we hit fantasy mode and give myself two seconds, the numbers don't get that much better, but it's fun to think about anyway...

Will you be at the June National Event in DC (at Fed Ex Field)? I didn't see you on the entry list. I will be there and my father in law codrives with me. I will have my Victoracers and OZ Superlegerras by then too.
And congrats on the win.

I am toying with the idea of running the National Tour event. The location sure is convenient, but in the interest of domestic tranquility, I've told myself that I would limit my autcrosses this year to ones that count towards local championships (something about having a new baby plus a not quite two year old in the house). I think I will have to wait until I see how I run on race rubber. If I start giving the local Z06s a hard time, then maybe I'll go for it.
Also, since it looks like ESP is the SP class for the Evo, I checked to see how I would have done there. I would have finished 4th out of 9, but less than a half second behind second place. The winner was about two seconds faster than me, but that guy finished tenth in ESP at the National Championships last year. Damn...I may just have to do the tour!

I was 1 sec off of the z06's this weekend. They are national drivers with Hoosiers and we had the stock tires. Very encouraging. Are you getting Hoosiers or Kuhmos for race rubber? What size and what wheels? Hope to see you in DC.

Good going agaist the Zo6s, who are some of the drivers? I would've had 4th in SS at the San Diego tour (with kumhos, no alignment), but would've been smoked in AS, Shotz and his cobra are fast. The 2 top 2002 ESP drivers (DSQed at the Nats') are local so when I move to than class it could be a good indication of how the Evo can do.
