Another Clutch Thread
My new Evo makes around 370 hp and 370 trq and after an autox school and 5 events (80 launches) the stock clutch has decided to start slipping. What I am looking for is a clutch that can stand up to the power and the hard launches it will get when autoxing. My old car had no clutch issues in 2 full seasons of autox but it made around 100 hp less in its BSP legal setup. I figure if the twin plates keep me from having to change out the clutch one time they pay for themselves, so after doing some research I am down to 3 choices:
Exedy Heavy Duty Twin Plate: Exedy are very popular with the Evo guys and are cheaper then the Tiltons, they are sprung hubs which should make them quiter then the Tilton for daily driving.
Tilton Twin Cerametalic: Probably the best clutch for my use but expensive and has some daily driving downsides. Worth it if better then the Exedy??
Tilton Twin Hybrid: Maybe a little nicer to drive daily but the organic disk will need replaced before the cerametalic, could change to cerametalic when it gets rebuilt if it did not meet my needs.
Thoughts? I know the Tiltons are nice clutches and are maybe the best choice but are they that much better then the Exedy? I heard the Tilton has a new material on their new clutches that is much quiter but that the price has gone up also.

I have a couple hundred launches (solo, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile), numerous solo events, winged warrior, and over a hundred drag runs on my Exedy Twin Disc and it drives like day one. Oh, and about 7,000 street miles too
This one clutch has lasted longer in my EVO than 4 different clutches did in my Eclipse with less abuse.

My stock clutch gave out over the summer and I upgraded to an ACT setup with the G6 clutch disc (sprung 6-pad race disc). I can't speak to durability yet, but it launches well.
My stocker has been signing off for some time, so I've been shopping around for a new clutch. Believe it or not, I've been able to test drive various EVO's with aftermarket clutches at the track. So far my favorite of all is the Exedy Twin HD. I haven't driving an SD but why even consider it since the HD is super streetable. The Tilton had way too much bite and the ACT HDSS was similar to stock but there has been so much drama involving lockout and constantly changing engagement that I wouldn't give it a second thought.
The only negative thing I could say about the twin was the price. It's costly but in all honesty I don't mind paying more for a clutch and flywheel combo and never have to dick with it again.
I think the best price I had PM'd to me was $1249 shipped + $45 for a new TOB and that was from nolimitmotors.

Well, it works for me for street use, but it's not a daily driver, and I almost never carry passengers, so a little bit of rough clutch is not really a problem.
