My point is that a competitive SM trim evo could easily be converted into a dominant XP machine at the current level of the class. I would not sleep on the potential of the evo as it could become a serious contender in the less rule-restricted classes such as XP.
I would not be so quick to say that it was mostly a sm car. It was fully gutted, too light for sm, and on slicks. THat would be kinda like saying Mike Johnsons ASP corvette is mostly a SS car. lol

What kind of offset do you guys run to get those 285 hoosiers to fit under the car with 9.5" or 10" wheels?

Riley, TI internals like the TME turbo - you can have that done to a IX just like an VIII. I don't know which events I'll do, because the schedule isn't out. It will depend on where my toter goes. We both plan to only focus National-level events.

Why not local events? Because they aren't fun and there's nothing to win. I don't enjoy it, and I have to limit my events as much as possible for family reasons, so I might as well only do the ones that matter. Seat time is a factor, of course, but I can't have my cake and eat it, too.

Tabio, my offset is +40 on the 18X9.5 NT03+Ms.

Thanks WT-
do you have to run spacers for caliper clearance in the front?

Yes, huge 25mm spacers up front with heavy fender rolling.

plus i might do balace shaft eliminators
with the mechanical VCD, you need to drive the car loose. The only way you can distribute power is to use a little more slip angles (read sideways).

Also IMO, with the VCD you are more prone to power loss when you lift the inside rear wheel.

With a reprogrammable ACD ECU, you could change how and when the ACD distributes power. From what I have researched, the stock programming is very tame and has a much slower response time to the more aggressive ACD ECU maps used on the rally cars.

What I'm trying to say Mark is that the XP winning car wasn't prepped to it's full potential (SM fully gutted and running radial slicks that according to most, if anything, slowed him down).

A well driven evo, taking advantage of the weight reduction and open tire rules, could have done equally well or at least somewhat challenged the embarassing 2 seconds gap between the winning XP car and the rest of the field.

It seems to me that the evo becomes more of a serious contender the less restrictive the class is; it's almost turning into a pattern how well the evo does in SCCA's classing: Stock<STU<BSP<SM<(pontentially) XP and more.
I'm only speculating but XP looks like another class where we could play and be competitive, anyway that's were I'm going. (BTW congrats on the win and a sick car)

Hey Clay, do you think there are any differences between MR's and GSR fenders or 05 and 03s?
You said you had to roll your front fenders. I run the same set up as you and had to roll the rear not the front. I actually didn't have enough front lip to roll

Liam, you have +40 offsets with 25mm spacers? The lip up front is extremely difficult to roll due to the aluminum fenders, which is why it took about 4-5 hours to do both properly with no rippling or warping. I had a lot of contact with my rims and race tires on, so we rolled almost a 180* arc. The rears only needed slight rolling, and that was more precautionary than an actual need.

Thousands. It is generally not worth the money. It pretty much triples the cost of the motor build.

I am pretty sure Warrtalon was only taking about the turbo having titanium internals.
