3SGTE, tires are not an issue unless you're getting race tires. Your street tires will last many, many events while daily driving with no problem. You also do not need to buy new Advans each time. Just get Azeni RT-615s for half the price or as KEKEK said, get a barely used set of Advans from some noob on here who got his Evo and immediately "upgraded" to some 18" bling rims that have worse tires than stock, but they don't know any better.

Also, I was modded beyond my class when I got started, too, so I just had to deal with it. Now, I'm not doing too shabby...

Ok I know I am bound to eventualy hit a cone, and i am a paint Finatic. What usualy happens, I would imagine a scuff or small dent if you realy wack into one. but I plan on taking it nice and slow to get the feeling. Don't realy wana play bowling using the cones as pins

I've hit countless cones, but I've never paid any attention to what it does to the body panels. If you really care about that stuff, then use painter's tape all around the risk areas, but that's some definite weaksauce for a kid living at home with a modded Evo IX and being worried about minor scuffs caused from the PROPER use of the car.

I think you'll find that it's not even a concern. 2.5 years of racing my Evo, and I haven't done more than a laser car wash. It still looks pretty good thanks to the clear bra I got when it was 2 days old.

just buy set of RA1s. they are cheap @ 160/tire for 255x40x17. As for cones use a lot of Blue Masking Tape. Im going tomorrow to Giants Stadium just to practice, before I install my new wheels and coilovers.

No, please do not use RA-1s until you learn to drive.

Meh I got a new Approach I don't Plan on hitting cones, So as long as I don't stare at them when I am driving the coarse I shouldn't hit any. Maybe I will but I'll be fine. I am worried about dents not soo much scuffs.

If you don't ever hit cones, then you're not trying. Don't try to figure it all out before you even do your first ever autox run.

How would you get dents?

Don't get me wrong...hitting cones can be from just poor driving, but if you're never hitting them, then you're likely not trying to cut them as close as possible and not going as fast as you could.
