Ok I read Some Sites and Some Primers and litk 50 millon FAQs, but I am kinda stupid or something. I wanna start Autocrossing. Its sounds fun, looks fun and I bet I would have a blast. So can Someone like walk me through it. I am basicly looking for someone in the area who does AutoX. I need to know what I have to do, to get ready. So I am a total noob to AutoX, help me.

You don't have to do anything. You just sign up and participate. Find the website for your local SCCA region and look at their schedule and participate in their forum if they have one.

You can also try finding someone in your area who already does it by looking in the regional sub-forum or finding a local racing website.

Maybe it costs that much for the annual membership, but the individual event price shouldn't be that much, and non-members are allowed.

3SGTE, you can learn to auto-x in any car, but yes, Miatas are a great platform.

yes and i was actually expecting $25 annually according to a friend of mine and when i told him its $80, he said its probably for new members and then $25. im going to call them...

i have a question, i found here(evom) that autox and road racing requires two different tune and because they are two different races. My Stock should be okay for autox right? i just want to make sure.

Dude your title is misleading ... I thought you wanted to be an auto-x star! Yes it is fun, yes it is a blast. As others have said hook up with your local region and start doing it ... there is no better way to learn than to do it yourself.

No, you don't need different tunes. It's just a nice luxury if you can manage to get separate custom tunes for each. I had Dynoflash make me 4 separate tunes for street, drag, auto-x, and road racing, but they all use different combinations of fuel/alky, too. I had to do this for auto-x, because I run alky daily, but alky is not allowed in SCCA (auto-x for me).

each event around NY area is around $30-$40 bucks. There is plenty around, Giants, Englishtown, Nassau Colloseum and many more places. Evo9-power gave you already a site with the schedule for the entire year. Get some fresh tires and we will se you around. Its fun, I hood up 4 of my friends, its like a dissease, it spreads quickly

yeah, thats whats gonna kill me. The Tires ohh man those are expensive. Yeah 240 a tire is my cost for the stock advans. Well I guess I am putting aftermarket tires on. Maybe I might just get a set of decent wheels and put some tires on them and just keep those for AutoX. Not gonna spend much money on, 1 run shouldn't destroy the advans? /thinking outloud

www.autox4u.com is your best bet for info on events in the tri-state area

NNJR SCCA holds alot of events at Englishtown
Motorsports NE and NNJR PCA holds events at Giants stadium
NYR SCCA and BMWCCA NY hold events at Nassau Coliseum
All are good events, more competitive at NYR and NNJR SCCA, more relaxed at the Giants stadium events and BMWCCA.

Any car you bring out will be fun. Don't worry about classing yet since you really will just need some seat time.

Just run on street tires. Advans are quite good. Find some cheap take-offs on the forums. Falken Azenis are another great option. Always plenty of evo's out and usually at least one (more like 2 or 3) trying to set FTD
