wheels

somebody explain to me why every wheel design has tight radius inside corners and frilly little indents that are so easy to clean.

I'd buy a set of lightweight wheels in a heart beat if they were designed to be maintained. flush spokes or at least gentle radiused with as few as possible doohickeys.

Does that really matter if you're racing? I have really nice race rims, but I haven't cleaned them by hand once. I don't care - they're for racing.

im assuming the lil indents & doohickies are there for added rigidity & strength.. but yeah, what warr said.... I dont think my wheels have ever been clean, and if they were they'd still have a million rock-chips showin

We have the same rims, and with all those spokes, I have no desire to try and clean them thoroughly.

trust me I have driven around most of a season with dirty rims. but man it gets pretty "back woods" after awhile. beside the fact it looks like a lazy driver.

you do wash the car don't you? its good for speed.

I actually just washed the car .. its been 4 months.

brake dust & stuff does build up over time... its a pain to wash the wheels but I recommend doing it atleast every 3 months or so. this PF97 compound seems to be very corrosive to wheel finish & paint.... nasty stuff

I put Pam on my wheels. Then the brake dust just rinses off. Another thing I'm thinking of doing is painting my wheels the color of brake dust. Then I just wont know they are dirty. I'm sure its easy to tell when Nils wheels are dirty.

I vastly prefer 5-spoke wheels for the cleaning issue. CCWs are a nightmare to clean! I had those on my Camaro in the classic design and there are a million places that you need to get your fingers into to get the brake dust off.
