Regardless of slotted or unslotted, for auto-x you see nowhere near the type of heat that gets generated under conditions at the race track. You could buy any cheap rotor and be fine. The cheap slotted rotors sold by Rotorpros (also sold on Ebay) are supposedly the same thing as the Stoptech slotted one piece rotor, just much cheaper. They even carry the same Centric part # confirmed by our EVOm member Razorlab.

Seems to me a solid rotor.
I have them and am extremely happy with them so far. I had racing brake 1pc slotted rotors before and they were garbage. Cracked and overheated in just 2 events. The DBA's have held up great and have not had a problem.

Those professing the love for Racing Brake 2pc... watch out. Did you see what happened at OneLap with those? I heard it may be an overlooked design flaw.

Do tell.. what happened?

I had the RB 2-pc rotors and they lasted 15 track days (on race pads) before one of the surface cracks reached the edge of the rotor. I've been using centrics since and they've been fine after 2 track days on PF97 pads.

Talk to Jon (Racerjon), he was driving. I heard those are the racing brake 2 pc, and someone else on a Corvette forum was also using them, and had the same problem.

I run the DBA rotors on my personal vehicle. It has seen a ton of track abuse. I can honestly say I am harder on the brakes then anyone I know. It is probably because I am too aggressive. Slow in fast out never really stuck.

The rotors have not had a problem keeping up(unlike all the other rotors I have worked with)

I can special order stoptech 4000 series(1 pc) in a standard rotor but the slotted ones are nice in stock and keep the pad fresh

Holy triple post Batman!

Stoptech is actually a subsidiary Centric ... next time you get a bill from Stoptech, check the company that is actually charging your card.

Jon wasn't driving, the STi's owner, Steven Rankins, was. I watched it happen with my own two eyes and he's lucky it was a mid-speed corner with a lot of runoff room.

That being said, I'd chalk it up to a manufacturing defect or assembly defect (if not assembled by robots). What you are looking at could be the possible result of having the bolts connecting the rotor to the hat torqued at different values.

With the number of satisfied Racing Brake customers and the amount of abuse that rotor design has seen on other cars in racing situations, I can't believe it's a design defect.

It's all speculation anyway. Even after seeing it happen, I am still considering those same rotors.

By the way:

Not true. Two piece rotors are legal in STX and, therefore, STU.

Rule wording for STX:

14.11.A.7. Brake rotors may be replaced with any rotor of equal or larger diameter made from a ferrous or aluminum alloy...

I am pretty happy with my power slot rotors. 2 years and several seasons of autocross with a co-driver, and they are holding up very well.
