Tire trailers, lets see 'em
Tire trailers, lets see 'em
So I think I have given up on the tire tail thing and Iam leaning more towards building up a tire trailer. I would like to see some detailed pics of your tire trailers, what brand of trailer you used and how you set it up.
Here is a post in another thread of a members tire trailer:
Old trailer setup:

My new trailer setup (repainted/resetup):

"I have to redo the tire mounting setup in order to fit the 12" trailer rims and wider wheels I have, but it has worked flawlessly so far transporting my stock wheels. The vertical stands are made from galvanized tubing from Lowes. The red "thing" under the wheel is an all-weather foam pad used to keep the rim lips from crashing into one another."

Yeah, I went a little overboard with the red lips
Everyone with trailers, if you could provide pictures of how you are securing your wheels, that would be great. I'm about to have to redo my trailer to fit my 17x9.5" (245/45) tire setup, and might go back to mounting the rims horizontally.
For reference, 235/45/17 tires are used in this picture:

235's fit snuggly between the frame rails of the trailer from side to side. The sides here are covered with pipe insulation foam. On the front and back of the trailer frame, I used PVC pipe secured by U-Clamps in order to stop the rims from falling between the frame. The rims are then held down by a tie strap passing through the center of each rim and the looped under the trailer.
245's can be transported with this setup, but one tire will be partially resting on the side frame rail of the trailer as the tires are too wide combined to fit between the frame rails.
