seeking tire advice

Heres the situation: I have about 30 runs on a set of Hankook R-comps for autox, and due to a combo of low tire pressures and an overagressive co-driver, I have a small section of cord showing on one outer tire edge. I'm looking for my options out there. It isnt a huge spot, but I know its questionable. Can I just flip the tires on the rim and leave it on the rear( which is usually dangling in the air anyways), can I get just one tire(maybe 2/32s worn off), or do I really need to get 2 new tires to keep things even side to side?!? my gut is telling me I need 1-2 new tires, but my pocketbook wants to run it and wait til it blows, so Im looking for others with experience.

I think you have answered your own question.

Tires are consumables and sooner or later they get eaten.

1 tire shaved to the correct tread depth would work ... but it seems like a waste of a perfectly good tire ... why not replace all 4?

Why don't you ask your co-driver to pay for it? That's what co-drivers do to stay in the car. No $/no co-drive. It's pretty simple.

Not very many people run Hankooks compared to Kumho or Hoosier, but you might be able to find 1 well worn tire that someone else has declared dead. I have 4 well worn Kumhos in my garage but I don't know why. I'll probably never use them again.

thats a good point, but its my little brother, so I'll be nice to him this time. This was my first experience ever on R-comps as well, so it was my fault for not setting things up well either.

since reusing this tire is out, will the tread depth make enough difference on my car by just putting a new tire on without shaving? I do still have then open front diff, but I dont know how sensitive everything else in the drivetrain really is.

Yes. 1 new tire will screw up your diffs.
