Hey Peter,
The 2004 Vishnu evo that ran at the 25 hour of thunderhill had a number of problems.
power steering pulley pump(s)
accessory belt(s)
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...e-preview.html

Not sure if they fixed those items in 2005+ but those would be relatively inexpensive parts to carry.

Best Motoring (jdm car vidoes) also has a regular endurance battle episode. They put a bunch of cars including an evo through 30+ laps around tsukuba in ~100 degree weather. The Evo 9 won it in that video but they gave specific comments for each car (which i can't remember for the evo). Would be nice to lookup if available.

Good luck at the Targa! Looking forward to the coverage

Thanks Yang. I'll try to find more detail on the Best Motoring races.

Will you be at Sears at the end of the month? I plan to bring the Evo out for another test.

yep, ill be there. just TT'ing this time, no 2 students to worry about. Do you have a datalogger? (i have the g2x) our cars are fairly similar along with laptimes, exchanging data would probably be pretty useful.

I bought a G2X a long time ago, and finally installed it. We should definitely overlay our data and see what the differences are. We've made some pretty dramatic changes to the suspension and there's about 20 more whp, so the car should be a fair bit quicker.

Are you a LFBer? I learned it at the Team O'Neil school and plan to start using it on the Evo. Would love a little input if you've been doing it in the Evo for a while.

I actually don't LFB. I guess I should be comfortable doing it coming from karts. Pedal position just doesn't feel right. Just found out last night my CV joint just broke, gotta get the halfshaft replaced

Cool

I'd bring a spare set of front calipers or at the very min a rebuild kit for both sides. I've rebuilt plenty of these Evo Brembo calipers trackside, but it's even better to have a new set as the crossover tube and other things are known to cause issues. Used takeoffs on ebay or from the guys here are a good source as the stealer price is crazy. Just my .02

I figured you'd LFB being that you came out of Formula cars. I'm convinced it can be the faster way to drive the Evo, just need to get comfortable with it.

Bummer about the CV. Hope to see you out there at the end of the month.

Rebuild kits are probably the bare minimum. I doubt I'll have any other internal issues unless the boots totally fail and debris gets past the piston.

This vishnu power steering pumps were breaking because they used a belt that was too small and bottomed the tensioner. I always carry a spare anyway, but I've never used it after well more than 1000 laps.

Head Gasket
Thermostat
Coil Pack
Spare Rim(s)
Fuel Filter

These all don't take up much space (can all fit in a bin) but all can/could/will fail:

Spare intercooler pipe couplers
Spare intercooler pipe clamps
Spare exhaust system gaskets
Spare injector o-rings
Spare BOV
Spare coils/plugs/plug wires
Spare belts
Spare nuts for the exhaust manifold to head
Spare vac tubing for emergency fixes
Spare coolant hoses
Spare fuel pump and injectors
Spare wheel studs
Spare front hubs
Spare oil (drivetrain and engine)
Spare nuts for rear camber bolts (these can strip easily during any adjustments)
Spare bolts for calipers (breaking one of those sucks)
Spare brake lines (I bring my stockers because you never know)

and the suggestions already mentioned.
