best value bolt in harness for track day?

which bolt in harness is the best value for use in autoX and track days... I'm looking for something that doesn't require cutting and welding or a harness bar. something that bolts to the rear deck (where child seat thing is) and then has two more points at the floor. Don't want anything anti-submarining since no cage. I'm not really looking for any additional safety.. I just want to be held in place better.

thoughts?

Schroth belts would do it for you. Have a look at Road Race Engineering's site. They have a good description. FWIW, i've been using these for 4 years in my Evo.

cg lock and some knee pads.

I wouldn't use a harness without a cage IMO.

That's ok for autox, but not for road racing. You don't want to use a harness at all on the track without rollover protection.

CG Lock FTW!

I know CG lock and it's not enough... sure it holds your chest back.. but my shoulders still move around too much and the support is not even. I want a little more then that so I can really really feel the road and car dynamics.

I feel that I'd be just as safe with a three point harness as with the stock belt provided it was installed correctly. I don't see how the stock system + CG could be considered any better. I'll still have the ability to submarine like with stock.

I would never even get into a car like half of the setups I see where they have the harness go through the seats and then right down to the floor... I don't want my spine to snap. The rear deck is the right angle for my height and the seat height and bolting to the back mounting points of the seat is somewhere between 15 and 30 degrees which is also ideal.

I'm looking for actual data from people who have setup their cars like this and I know there must be a bunch out there.

Schroth for sure, they have all types of belts wither you go full race or bolt in "track day"

these are designed to turn our body in a crash scenario to prevent "submarining". they have a video of the belts in action on their site as well.

Look into the Schroth Rally 3 harness. It's a 4 point harness that shares the rear anchor point with the rear seat should belt mounting point and the front mounting points with the seat belt. The rear strap can also be disconnected to allow both rear shoulder belts to be used normally.

In the Schroth 4 point designs, the anti-submarine technology is extra webbing that will release in the event of an impact to allow the upper body to come forward and pivot like a conventional shoulder belt. So it's exactly the same "anti-submarining" technology that a conventional 3 point shoulder belts uses.

In a rollover you would still probably at more risk than just a conventional shoulder belt, but for me it was a worthwhile trade-off over fighting to keep myself in the seat at speed. Now on the track I can focus on driving - not trying to keep myself in the seat. I did a fair bit of research into "safe" 4 point systems and the was the best set-up I could find. It's even DOT approved in certain applications.

In the market for some harnesses for next year.

I don't currently have a cage and have not plans to install one. I don't have a bolt-in harness bar or roll cage (but have heard good things about the Autopower bolt-in cage as an option). I have been using the back seat to haul my track tires/rims this year.

Car will be dual purpose - street and track - and will not be trailored. Recommendations?

street car = stock belts.

race car? = race harnesses.

pretty simple. Sure, I ran harnesses before without a roll bar, but after wising up a bit, i'll never do it again.

you will never unbolt it, i'm 99% sure of it. it's not a simple put in/take out affair.

I run simpson gear. Helmet, harnesses, etc. They suit me great.

If I got one, I'd leave it in all summer. I took my back seat out to make hauling tires easier - it's been out for months.

Found a good thread that covers most of this discussion is MUCH better detail:
