No, my wife never got her plane ticket for NY, so I got the shaft. The only reason I was able to think about going was because she planned to fly home for a nephew's b-day and take our son with her, but it never materialized. I fought it up until late Thursday, but it was a no-go.

Looking good for the Faucetts so far. They are the best competition I have in SM in the CO region. Tyler is faster than his dad, but he's often dirty as you can see today. His best raw time is a full second than anyone in the class, but his dad is clean on his best run and thus in first. Tyler needs to hit a clean fast run tomorrow, and he'll probably win easily, but not hitting a cone OR red-lighting while going all-out isn't always easy. The battle for 2nd should be pretty intense between Mike (the dad) and the GTI co-driver. I'm surprised that Gustavson did so poorly - it wasn't just that he coned good runs, but rather he was slow on all runs from what I see.

I normally beat the Faucetts by 2-3 seconds, so it's quite a bummer that I had to miss out on this one. However, they have been closing the gap as of late as they get better at driving that newly-built monster and since they moved up to 315F/335R Hoosiers.

yeah, tyler is really fast, but he cant get any clean runs in, on my first run of the afternoon, my engine gave out so i was unable to finish the day, that run felt the best out of all my runs, but oh well, its racing, and it happens

riley is really close to the father, i think he might be able to pull it out tomorow, but we'll see, if not, i may let him borrow my BRAND NEW V710's that i only got to put three and a half runs on

yah my car wasnt running well this weekend. first off, i didnt get my new big v710's on in time so i was stuck running on some old worn out 245/45/17 v710's on stock enkei's. also during the afternoon run group, my clutch finally died so it is slipping horribly on the launch. my throttle body is also sticking open on throttle let off for some reason. I would be supprised if i didnt break into at least the mid 35's tomorrow and i am sure that if my car was running the way i wanted it to this weekend i would be up there with the gti and the bmw but you cant win them all.

the only cars running 2-3 seconds faster than the faucetts this weekend are like f mod m3's and a z06 that won nationals. you must be pretty damn fast warrtalon...

so yah the sm evo's have been having some problems, sadly seanjhn9 blew something in his engine on first run second go around this evening so he is out. hopefully my clutch will hold for the rest of the weekend i would love to see 34-35 second times...

I wouldn't beat Tyler by 2-3 seconds on a 30-sec course, but our courses are usually 50-60s, so that makes a difference in how large the gaps are. Since Tyler ran a 34.1, though, I would have expected to be in the high 33s unless they are just totally rocking out. I think I would have had an advantage due to the drag-style launch aspect, which is where I'd shine in both the launch and 200' run itself as well as the ability to cut good lights on the tree. It's all speculation, since I'm not there, though.

A few events ago, I beat them both by 4-5 seconds on a 60+-sec course, but the last 2 events, I've beaten them by a range of 1.0-2.4 seconds. I'm only talking raw times here, because even t hough Tyler may hit a cone that gives me a 3-sec win, I really only pay attention to the raw times, because that shows true potential unless it's a cone you basically run over in order to cut a tough corner. Generally, though, cones are not indicative of shaving time, so I don't worry about it. Their car is fast, has ridiculous rubber, and they improve each time out, so the time may come when that gap goes away.

Results are here:

Looks like Brian is doing very well in AS. He's in 3rd, but he's barely more than a tenth out of first, so that's one helluva battle. He just needs one banzai run tomorrow or maybe just a great R/T to take over first.

Sory to hear about your bad luck.

It looks like Max's street-tired STi in STU, along with STX and FS, were faster than SM too?

Well, the fastest SM car is at 34.1 raw, but that's still way too close to the top STU, STX, and FS cars. The FS guy, Kevin Youngers, is awesome and has finished top 10 PAX at several National events all around the country already this year. His problem is he always seems to finish 2nd to Sam Strano by a few tenths - tough class. Still, though, an STX and FS car both being in the mid 34s with all of SM cars at 35.1 or higher (clean) is ridiculous. That's why I said I would expect to be in the high 33s at least. I usually beat Kevin by 3+ seconds in raw at our local events, but he usually gets me in PAX by a bit.

True, I'm sure they'll have some clean runs tomorrow. Also the Pros, the 2wds get left at the start.

Great job by Brian to finish up strong today by moving up to 2nd in AS. He only missed the win by 6 THOUSANDTHS of a second. 3rd place was right on his heels, too, so that was one helluva competition in AS.

In SM, on Riley's (evobeatsti) very last run, he jumped up to 2nd ahead of the Faucett father. The winner was the Faucett son who was way faster than the field, but he only got ONE clean run in 9 tries, and that run happened to be his fastest raw time, too. Had he coned that one, Riley would have won SM. Not bad! I'm hoping I would have been well into the 33s and maybe high 32s based off the other times posted.

For CO, two of our better X class drivers finished 1st and 3rd in Bump1 class, sandwiched around Paul Brown, a perennial 2nd place ES guy at Nationals. Another of our better drivers finished 2nd in STX, but good Lord, the winner in STX was a monster...
