EVOlutionary's 2nd trip to Solo2 Nationals
Looks like Mark Daddio took SM by a nice margin.
GO GO DADDIO!!
Clayton just missed the last trophy spot by .19.
Don't talk about Fat Tire unless joo gonna bring me some.

Daddio held on for an easy win thanks to Sias coning his fastest run, but even without the cone, it would have been a win by a very slim margin.
Jarrod nutted up and took advantage of mistakes by most of Saturday trophy contenders by nailing 3 straight fast runs without any cones.
Tage and Lieber squandered high trophy finishes with single cones on all 3 runs, then fell all the way out of trophies at 7th and 9th, respectively.
Lieber still had the final trophy spot (6th) until Nelson Antunnes final run on the right, which moved him from 10th behind me to 6th ahead of 3 Evo drivers.
I moved up from 11th to 10th but once again had my fastest raw time on my first run. This time it was clean, so it was pretty good, but if I would have improved even a little bit after my first run on both days, I would have been really making some noise. Not top finisher noise, but definitely trophy-level noise. As it stands, I ended up .7 out of the trophies, and my first run on day 2 was better than the final trophy winner's best run on day 2 (minor consolations are all I have for now).
As far as I know, this is the first year that a non-BMW has won SM. Evos REALLY showed out this year, and BSP/STU will be just as good!

congrats!
i'm sure you'll be more competitive next year that you'll have more seat time and more mods
and its good to hear daddio took the SM win, it sucks lieber didnt get a trophy spot, but i'm sure he did better then last year which is good
cant wait to hear the outcome of the bsp/stu guys
Good Luck!
Main thing I learned was that the car was more competitive at the national level than expected and that my driving held it back. However, at the same time, it's not as fast as the top cars (including Jarrod's), nor am I, but not that far away...
First time a non-BMW has won SM as a full National class.
The very first year that SM competed, in 2000 as a provisional class, Kent Rafferty won in a Supra. Then 6 BMWs in a row.
Congrats to Mark and Jarrod for the trophy spots.
I see that Mark was a ton faster than Erik's winning time in SM2. Was there that much difference between Heat 1 and Heat 4, or were there weather issues?

As for SM vs. SM2, on day 1 SM2 ran 1st heat in cold, wet conditions. It was drying and whoever ran well on their 3rd run took the top spots in that class. SM ran 4th heat in dry conditions.
For a better picture of the difference, compare the times of the 2nd day. Both classes were dry, although it was a little cooler for SM2 in the morning.
