I've heard that the EVO VIII doors are lighter than the IX doors due to less side-impact reinforcement. Does anyone have specific weights or at least the weight difference between the two?

When i pulled both door bars out i would say they came in at 3lbs for both. Not sure on the 9vs the 8

 

Rumor has it that the JDM doors are all aluminum. How about a 2800lb Evo from the factory?

Never heard of that. I doubt it, but it's possible. They made a BMW 3-series "Lightweight" version with aluminum doors. . .

the evo IX have aluminum impact reinforcements(side-impact) beams which means -7.7lbs less weight than the VIII.

 

I just replaced my stock doors with the Seibon carbon and lets just say that i cut 137lbs off my car instantly.

The stock doors are HEAVY!

Well..... i dont know if I would use them for street use. I feel bad for the door every time i close it

The naked front doors weigh 13lbs and the rears weigh 11lbs!!

i'm also only putting fixed lexan in the rear and figured that into my weight savings.

I think all the RS models for all years have the aluminum impact beams.

 

My '04 RS definitely does not have aluminum door beams.

well my rs has has side impact aluminum bars but not the whole door.
also my car weighs in at 3095lbs full tank and floormats and everything in the trunk.

 

Do you have more specifics? What was the weight savings per door? Did they include replacing the stock glass with lexan?

Are they really $1800 _each_? Seems a little excessive.
