Rally of the Tall Pines

Anyone from the board going to be attending?

Looking forward to the rally, and the wife and two boys are coming with us this time... should be a great rally.

Sorry, we have not been out since Pikes Peak and won't be going out again this year. Good to see you holding up the Evo end of rally as Suby and friends sure have taken over in a big way.

PS- Ya think there is any chance Mitsu will send out a spread like Suby does for Travis and Ken? Ummm never mind. Not gonna happen.

I think if we want to see the Evo do better on a national scale we sort of need to step up and put drivers in cars.

I have whispered in Dave Buschurs ear a few times that Matthew Johnson would look REALLY good in a PGT Evo and while he (and others) may find it to be an interesting idea, there is simply not much interest in the community in rally.

Then again I think the reason this is so is because Mitsu America has no idea that rally would be a good marketing plan. They don't have to make anything close to the investment Suby has to make a dent. Just give some support and tech help and racers would be happy to do the rest.

I think they could also make a dent in the 2wd segment with the new Lancer. Rumors I am hearing are that the car between the base Lancer and Evo will be FWD which would make it interesting as an option in G5. Right now that class is all about SRT4s, the Mazdaspeed 3 and ummm us.

We are waiting to see what happens with the new diesels coming out and are actually talking to some folks about what we may run other than a VW TDI.

By the way... if Suby brings a diesel to the states like they are talking about I may have to stop talking bad about them. =-)

EVO will not work in PGT from what we have been told - you are not allowed "down grading" the front brakes... imagine that - we thought a PGT EVO would be awesome as well, but that was the issue.

Bump for a great rally coming up -

Have we talked to anyone about options on how this could be addressed? I know they don't want it to be a one make class and they have told me (at least paid lip service to) that they want as much diversity as possible.

Going to smaller brakes does not improve the performance and just lets us run the proper wheels and tires. If they have a better option I would sure love to hear it.

I have my personal EVO IX I would build as a PGT car for next year if it were allowed to run - I may not run every event with it, but I would for sure put a good driver in there for at least a few events!

I would like to take the issue to the top as well, and get some proper answers... I agree with your logic that it is not a performance upgrade, just a way to fit the proper wheels and tires!

J.B. Niday- 763-553-2742

That number is on the Rally America web site so it's not like I'm giving out his cell #.

He is a pretty reasonable guy and helped us back at Pikes Peak without totally rebuilding the car.

As for driver, there are some really good guys out there but I would LOVE to see Matt Johnson in a PGT Evo. I think he would podium at multiple rallys and he's a heck of a good guy all around. He is imo a little support away from giving the big boys a serious run.

The whole brake issue with the evo and the class is dissappointing. I wish the sanctioning bodies would be more helpful in that regard.

Matt is for sure the very best driver IN MY OPINION not in an open class car with some more backing. I know many people with the same opinion - if I had the money, I know he would be my first choice for a teammate of ACP -

I think a bunch of us have to push the issue a bit.

I know I would enter Black River Stages or maybe Rally NY if I could change the brakes out without being in Open. Might run BRS next year with a DSM, still looking for some backing....
