What about some of the other big name cars out there?

Factor X's new Unlimited class NSX?

M-Workz 350Z?

JIC/Hankook S15?

World Racing Scion tC?

Nils?

Harmon Autmotive STI?

Evasive EVO?

and the before mentioned Speed Element and GST cars...

Was Crawford's new Unlimited class STI there?

It was just previously stated that the two cars are built to follow different rule packages. Its comparing apples to oranges.

First post updated with the rumored times we have collected so far. Just heard that the M-Workz Z ran somewhere in the 1:52 range with its new JWT 850bb twin turbo kit.

I wonder what kinda gearbox it's running. It's definitely got some kinda dogbox.. you can hear the straight cut gears. It's also has a sequential shifter... Here's a video of it running around Tsukuba.

Ive been looking for results on AMS's page!! LOL

Great job to Paul and AMS. Awesome beating the cyber time. 2 years old or not it was still the evo record!

Dam close to the ct230r considering the tires it was on and a 400lb weight advantage. That alone could be 4-5 seconds.

I wasnt expecting modified pick up points and suspension geometry too.

Congrats to HKS for putting up a Uber time, a 1:48 will make most cry home to thier mommy's, 43's are just plan sick.

So what are the rule differences? They allow suspension pick up points moved but what else? The tires are still a copy of the DOT race tire tread patern but with a super soft compund? Also, how did they get 400 pounds removed from the car? Is it a tube frame chassis?

From what I know about the AMS car, the only thing to make it much faster would be full on slicks and maybe some different suspension pieces like a lighter and better geometry front subframe. Its just hard to figure out where the HKS car is picking up the time on a car like the AMS. They can't be making more power than AMS can they?

Our car is making more power but saving 400lbs will make up for a lot of HP. The 400lb weight savings comes from several areas but the biggest is the fact that it has a Carbon fiber body! the chassis work on the HKS car is AMAZING...illegal but still AMAZING. Moving the points might not sound all that crazy to the average EVO owner but those few on this site that are in the know will attest to how much this can help the car.

Hopefully someone can get some pictures up close of the car and you can really get a good idea of the Sheer money that was put into this crazy machine. They are HKS after all, they have a little to work with.

Can a US based tuner build a car to compete with it? ABSOLUTELY! Will someone? Most likely not because of the fact that the ONLY event right now a car like that can compete it in is the Super street Time Attack and there are just simply too few. If different sanctioning bodies change these rules then we will see but as of right now, its just no practical in the least.

And the diet begins!!!! LOL

RSR14, imagine the AMS car 400 lbs lighter and on a tire softer than a Hoosier Autocross tire. That alone would close the 5 sec gap.

But for now, Im sure AMS is proud to know that TA I is one of the fastest TA cars in the world. And BTW, its the first TA car they've built and they been learning as they go. Just imagine what TATOO will be like... It brings a smile to my face.

There always next year.

I cant imagine it has a carbon tub. The inner structure and floor pans are still steel? so all the external parts: fenders, doors, bumpers, roof skin, trunk are carbon? What else? I am just very curious where the weight savings came from. The tires for sure are a big difference.

So the AMS car weighs 2800 and HKS 2400?

How about tire width? Diff's? Tranny? Brakes?

Yeah - just CF bodywork doesn't seem like enough to save 400+lbs

In the video above, it says 1060kg = 2332lbs and 560ps = 552hp
