Top speed of a 9, 5-speed

I'm gonna be taking my car to the big track @ Willow next month, and I've noticed the thing spins pretty high at freeway speeds. I've hit the rev limiter in T8 before, and I'd rather avoid it again if at all possible.
FWIW, it's a stock SE. Stock rev limiter, and I guess Speed Limiter..? Wasn't aware these cars had one.
Posted first in the Evo Gen forum, and it got locked, apparently because people inputted abou their top speed runs on the street.
Any help would be appreciated.

You hit like 158ish right? My 5 speed 8 could do about 158.

What was your speed when you hit the rev limiter? Seems like a really big straight for a track if you can hit the rev limiter in 5th, but I've never been to Willow.

Never had this car at Willow. My reference about hitting the limiter in 8 was about other vehicles. On a bike, it can put you on your head real quick, but in any vehicle, the forward weight transfer from the thing whacking the limiter can be enough to spin it.
I'm trying to find out if I need to breath the throttle before I get in to 8, so it doesn't happen.
At Willow, you pretty much launch out of T5, and don't back off until you enter 9. The apex of T8 can be faster than your speed down the front street. Not all vehicles can do this, but driving this thing around, I get the impression that it sticks well enough so it can.

No way in hell will you redline an Evo in 5th gear at Big Willow, at least not in a 5-speed. I have run that track a gazillion times. Don't worry about your redline. Worry about having the nerve to take 8 flat out and hold as much speed as you can thru 9 and 1.

One thing is for sure. You won't hit "158 mph" on the track unless it's the last thing you see before the grim reaper.

Well we answered this in the locked thread. 153 @ 7000 RPM.

I like that reaper comment. PS - I hope you have brakes.

Don't know what bike you were on, but if you are taking turn 8 flat now then you will have no problem taking it flat in the EVO. Most fast and properly setup cars can take 8 up to 130-135 mph before considering a breathe of the throttle.

I don't know about that. I've had a GT2 car through 8 at better than 150mph, and 170 or so in the chute. All you need is proper down force
I would think a properly set up Ford Taurus could do 130 through there(OK maybe not).
I've had a built 650R over 145, and was able to stay tucked in.
Our ZX10 will do probably 160, as well as our 600. The 600 doesn't even get breathed before it gets tipped in. I have thousands of laps around the big track , racing every month over 12 years. I'm not worried about me.
I'm gathering that nobody has kept it flat through there, so we don't really know if it'll hit the limiter. I have 153 and 158 as the top speed of the 5-speed. That would be at least 15 or mph better than I would guess the car could get to down the back straight. As long as the top speed isn't around 140, I'm not gonna worry about it.

I guess you've never noticed T1 is banked. It's not a difficult turn at all. You should be able to see 110 or so at the apex of T9. Along with 5, it's the most important turn on the track. If you enter any turn at Willow properly, and have your vehicle set up the right way, there's really no need to worry about whether you have the "Nerve" to get through any of it, but thanks for the tip(you're probably gonna regret it, as I've now PM'd you about set up info. Shouldn't have wrote you have a gazillion laps around Willow in an Evo-Your bad :-).
As the title said, I just wanna know when the thing will hit the rev limiter. I'm not worried about the drive pooping their panties, and lifting.

Stock Evo 9 SE? Its going to depend on your tires. Either way, youre not going to hit 153 through T8, or anywhere else at Big willow.

Since your question is in regards to your Evo, i think Jason was giving you average baseline figures for an Evo.

You must have high hopes for your EVO. You won't come close to 150 through turn 8, stock or with light modification (flash and exhaust).

I also didn't know a stock EVO was comparable to a GT2 that you were capable of getting up to 150+ through that corner. It's a bargain car, but not that big of one.
