MitsubishiRally.com

Okay, so I've owned this Domain since I snagged if directly from Mitsubishi.

I've done NOTHING with it. I had intended to build it into my Rally Racing History with Mitsubishi but just haven't

So what do YOU think I should do with it?

I think a community of DSM Rallyers would be a cool thing, but I am open for suggestions.

Your thoughts?

i did rally race 6 years in hungary. When i came here i thought i will continue as an amature untill my wife finish her school here./that is why we came/ But My experience really no body care the Rally in US. Think about it, we are the one of the best grouppe "n" car home page .and how many even saw one race in live?
So that idea did go out the window... Now i will try to get in the RTA, series.
I would say dropp it. Nobody cares... and it is very sad.
I try to be honest so no offense. I would be happy if the people like the rally as a europians..

I know... it's a Shame.

I've been involved in the sport for around 10 years now in the states... everywhere from an organizer to an Area and Regional Director, to a Divisional Steward and even sitting on the National Board of Directors to a humble Competitor... and it always strikes me how many people have NO IDEA what Rally is.

Have hope my friend... there are alot of us still out there Rallying and thanks to the efforts of Rally America taking the reigns from the SCCA a few years back, we are getting more and more event coverage in TV, Print and other forms of media.

I have high hopes for our competition and its future.

I'd love to chat with you personally about your Rallying experiences, swap stories and even glean some wisdom from your history sometime. Beers are on me.

I think it would be a great site for people who doing any sort of rallying with their Mitsubishi

Rallycross
Road rally (monte carlo, TSD etc)
Rallying

A site with history would be cool too.

RallyDSM, if you make a site I would love to help. I do geospatial information systems for a living and always do free work for motorsports related things, all I would ask for is recognition . I can make maps that are easy:

http://www.olympusrally.com/images/c...verviewmap.jpg
http://www.jsports.co.jp/style/image...r_map_wide.jpg

or maps that are hard:

http://www.cgw.com/Media/Publication...le/stage12.jpg
http://www.hikingupward.com/GWNF/Thr...ges/ttm_3d.jpg

I have full access to worldwide aerial imagery that is 100 times better than google earth. Plus I can draw anything I want into a map, put in legends and all that crap.

Anyways, if you need any help feel free to PM me

It's a messy issue.

On one hand, America has no idea about Rally and I can't understand why. It's cooler than driving in a circle if you ask me and has a lot more in common with your average gearhead in that the races are run on real roads!

On the other hand, big money in rally will ruin a lot of what I like about it now. Small towns and cool folks who are more focused on having fun than about anything else. Some of the money that has entered the sport of late has teams that seem to maybe be having less fun and maybe a little less of the friendly band of brothers sort of attitude that I like so much.

As for popularity... it's odd. Our website has had millions of hits and it's not because we have hot new content up or anything like that. I think part of it is kids doing science reports on alternative fuels (as shown by my email in box) but a lot of it is from overseas. I swear, I could keep a small team of translators busy just letting me know what folks are typing at me in cyberspace.

So yeah, the love it out there. Most of it is in places other than America but kids do google so I say put up the web site and like it to Elmo or Hanna Montana as thats the more sure way to get traffic and warp their little minds!

Perhaps, "how to get involved" for beginner....so people don't have to read 150 pages rule book. Maybe how to set the car up and prep for different conditions. Of course, link to other places.

Yes, it's sad that most people in the US don't get rallies and the challenges involved with it. Since Fox took over Speed, WRC went off air and Speed becomes NASCAR channel. I remembered the good old days when they were showing DTM, BTCC, WRC, even JGTC.

We're far far from being anywhere in WRC. Hell, even Subaru still let the British handles their rally team. Ford handed it M-Sport also. Yea....and why hasn't Ford release that AWD turbocharged Focus RS here? I can go on and on.

I like the ideas here so far... the idea of focusing on all facets of Mitsubishi in all types of Rally. A historical section would be cool... both for WRC but also for Stateside, UK and other more local flavors. The Maps idea is a cool one too... I like that alot.

In fact, I was playing around with Google Earth and in my limited capacity, found it pretty sweet that you could find the roads we Rally on, set multiple waypoints along that road and then send the camera along the path... vitrually driving the roads we race on.

Something like THAT in smooth, high def imagery would be most excellent.

Maybe someday organize a Rally Relay Race across America with members carrying a Diamond Star Trophy from one coast to another. Get the Dealerships involved, lots of press and sponsors... it would be GREAT!

Okay... scale it back some. LOL!

Anyway, keep the ideas coming. I like where this is going.

it is slowly catching on here. personally, i love rally, and watch as much as possible.

it is hard in the US market though, but now that alot of cable and sattelite providers are starting to expand services, i think it will start being included alot more.

it's certainly going to take time, but it is a great sport, and i think with a little time (and gentle prodding) people will start warming up to it.

i think it's inclusion in the X games is really helping to get the word out.

only time will tell for sure, but i am optimistic!

High-def fly alongs are easy if they are done without elevation modeling...but when you throw in the elevation, it turns to crap really. 3D wise I can make stage models showing the entire route, or I can do something where its showing the elevations at a popular turn in a rally, and where youd be able to see the turn from as a spectator.

I think if you were going to have a history side of things with mitsu and rally, you should merge a wiki into the site. That way people can add more info as it grows and you could control that so bad info doesnt get in

You have the best possible domain name and I think you should dedicate it to the small group of us that use Mitsu for rallying. Do you know Dirty Impreza? ( http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/ ) I think if you did this for the Mitsu community it would be awesome.

Here's why Rally hasn't caught on in America:

This + Lawyers

There are so few places that will risk the liability that you can't find sites.
