A couple of ways to do it: Go with a large organization (PCA, BMW CCA, NASA, etc.) and pay a fee ($200-400 for the weekend) you will get instruction and have lot of fun learning what your car can do in a fairly safe and controlled environment. Once you have some experience, you can get a small group of guys together and rent the track and go out and drive until either your tires wear out or your body hurts!

Is there really a group that only charges $200 for a weekend?

My days are $175, $225 w/instructor, but I limit them to 60 people for low traffic density.

PCA at Road Atlanta with PCA instructors is only $285 for the whole weekend. There are several tracks that are less than $200 for a single day if you go with a small group of individuals among which there are usually a few instructors who will gladly give guidance.

FYI

Onelap 2006 we ran a 1.18.9 lap time there. We would enter the front straight around 113mph and have a terminal speed of 144mph.

This was after we lost the intercooler hose at No Problem so Luke was driving like a mad man trying to make up some points.

Ah, yea I knew PCA could fit a few more at Road Atlanta and therefore can bring down the prices a little.. they also put far more cars on track.

For the single day, yea I am at $175 for "solo approved" drivers, and I will give pointers along with my other instructors to anyone that wants them, as I try to keep it a learning experience no matter what level.

I know that a stock Evo 8 goes from "filled to the top" to fuel starve in 25 min at Roebling. Something stupid like 4mpg.

Now with the tuning, I would think that it would get a little better milage.

Stock vs 35R on E85 ..... I'm guessing the big snail is more thirsty.

I think I was getting 3.3 MPG at Roebling...still a LOT cheaper than VP MS109 at 6 MPG!

I would go the same route but I'd have to bring 100 gallons of E85 with me as its a rare to find it at the pump.
