Update: Data on the Porsche GT3 RS - I was seeing 158 - 160mph on the front straight in a bone stock car. My lap time was right at 1:22, and I was being a bit conservative in 5-6-7 and 1, as the consequences for going off are higher.

Cory (RSR14 on here) ran one with a racing alignment, a little more rear wing, and R888s and ran a 1:19 flat. He was also being conservative in 1, but had the traction control off and I know he was using power-on oversteer to rotate the car in 5-6-7.

The "stock" GT3 RS, me in it back in October. (It wasn't raining yesterday)

Both of us were braking at about 600 feet on the front straight, so as to not hurt the cars of some very generous owners.

Interestingly enough, Cory thinks the taller and softer sidewall of the R888 actually hurt the car, numbing its responsiveness and feel mid-corner. He also said that he would add wing and tighten up the sway bars.

The car with alignment, R888s Euro-spec seats at a recent SeatTime Date.

Also, the digital readout doesn't keep up at those speeds.. after I hit the brakes I look down to see the readout fall through 152-151.. Cory was seeing about the same from what he said.

Sorry to hijack a little more, but I figured it is a decent place to put some comparison data.

i went out there before turkey day, when it went from 80 in florida to 30 at roebling

Was a bit bummed, only got down to a 1.22, (stock power, gutted/caged, kw3s, fresh nt01-s, full tread, some braking issues) where i had turned a 1.20 with my old car (310hp, stockish weight w/ rollbar, ra-1's at the cords)

I know i was loosing .3-.4 on the braking into 1 alone, really missed the 40 extra ponies i had last time up there.

The 30' might have had a lot to do with it.. if you can't build the heat, you are not going to have the grip needed to go fast there.

Remember a few years ago GRM had the test with all the cars.. things like a Lotus Elise running a 1:32, a Spec Racer Ford Running a 1:28.. it was like 28 that day from what I understand. (Spec Racer lap times should be in the 1:19 - 1:20 range)

true, but it was up in the 50's during the day, setup just wasn't quite right, and brakes weren't inspiring any confidence

blast of a track though. I like shorter tracks, rather than the 2 1/2 minutes around sebring. harder to get just everything perfect to get that fast lap

See, I like Sebring, but I think it has more to do with what it takes to get it right.. those complexes of 3-4 corners that lead to the huge straights. It's sort of like Autocrossing - especially 3-4-5 with really big consequences if you mess up in terms of lap times.

Savannah is actually growing on me the more I do it though, and I think I heard Fittipaldi say once "people go too slow in the fast corners and too fast in the slow corners" I don't think I suffer from the "too fast" part as I learned discipline in autocross, but Savannah has really helped me with the going fast in the fast parts.

I guess it all depends on what mood your in lol. Roebling if you want fast dec. radius corners, Sebring if you want surface change multi-angel corners, Homestead if you want smooth surface 'sudden' sharp corners, Road Atlanta if you want scary elevation changes with fast and slow corners.

homestead and smooth? lol. you do remember i lost a windshield there off the back straight, due to that horrendous dip. (and the suspension was set super soft from sebring)

Jon, i like sebring too, i've probably done 25-30 days there, but a small venue like roebling is definatly a great break. (esp the surface quality ) 3-4-5 is a blast (when you turn left at 3, i've gone right ) and the combo sweeper in the back with 14-15.

Just curious, what is a decent Sebring (long course) time in a lightly prepped EVO.

I was able to run Sebring for the first time in a Spec Racer a few weeks ago. Pole was a 2:31 which is ridiculously fast in an SRF. Rumor has it that he was shortening the back 14-15-16 complex by going from 14 straight to 16 during qualifying. The race pace was mostly in the 2:33-2:35 range.

I don't know what it would be in a lightly prepped Evo, I always felt that if we got the AMS car down there it would run in the 2:16 range, perhaps a little faster.

The fastest I have run is in the teens in a Formula Continental, and when I was driving the Ferraris around there I didn't have a watch

in my stock-powered, 3000-ish empty car, caged, with ra-1s, and kw3's, im just dipping into the 29's. stock, a car should be in the 35- 37ish range.

Got a guy running a 2600lb, 500ish hp 8, and last i checked, he was getting into the high teens. He's just getting a feel for the car really.

damn is a go kart track ?? it's so narrow. It can be a car track, cause if there's a race you don't have enough room to pass some one.
