Ohlins Flag Spare Parts?

Anyone out there have a contact for any spares for the Ohlins Flag?

More specifically front reservoir parts.

Thanks,
John

you can get parts from works.

lemme guess, you broke the little pins that keep the front canisters from rotating?

Actually, the previous owner snapped a pin and it subsequently damaged the front reservoir. Apparently the bladder and cylinder are bad and it won't hold pressure, forcing the nitrogen into the damper fluid.

I had a pin made locally since getting spares from Ohlins seems to be a rough endeavor. If I have trouble sourcing these other parts through my current shop who is revalving the units for me I'll give those guys a call.

Thanks,

John

I guess now that the subject of borken pins has been brought up, how many people have had issues with that?

Just looking at it I would think the problem is worse when running lots of camber since the angle between the plate and pin becomes more extreme.

when I called works to order some more pins, they said they were currently all sold out because they break all the time.

I'm not sure they could have designed that joint any worse. I was thinking i might drill out the threaded hole and tap it with a larger thread and make a different pin to fit.

John, if it's not too much trouble, would you mind posting a pic of the damage?

The pins must sit nearest the firewall. If they're installed facing forward, you increase the likelihood of damage/failure. We've only had one break on our own cars, but there have been reports of others--unsure of pin orientation on some. We have more on order from Ohlins.

I did not know that. I'll try the rear position after we get some new pins. Currently both sides are broken.

Great! Something to look forward too.

At least I have a local machinist making some for me.

Maybe I'll look into improving it. I agree a larger bolt may help, but b/c of the length and dia of the pin and the threads probably creating a stress riser it will probably be a continuing issue. I completely agree on the design sucking ***. They have some great features on these coilovers and then they must have given this to the intern or something.

If there are any people out there who are having issues with this let me know. I might try to make a kit and if there are several having an issue it would be cheaper for all if quantities go up on manufactured parts.

Thanks for the tip Jamie, as I understand it you should have the pin in the rear (closest to the firewall) on each side. What about orientation with respect to the strut tower? Closer to the center of the car, farther away?

BTW, I called Works today to ask about spare parts and apparently you don't have any at the moment. Oh well.

John

Does anyone have the Ohlins Flag setup manual or the Ohlins settings for the evo 9?
If it possible I will appreciate it to send those files to me via email or pm.
Thanks in advance.

I'm going to have to look at mine. I have no idea what "pin" you guys are talking about, and I did my own install on these. Nothing broken that I know of.
