rear spoiler replacement with aftermarket?

So, how many of you guys have ditched the rear spoiler for an afternmarket type such as the APR - Is the difference noticable?

If so, what have you opted to go with - seems like the APR GTC-200 is the most popular choice. Any opinions on this?

APR does well a few more options other than the GTC line and I was wondering if anyone ran one of these other ones and had varying thoughts...

Thanks!

I went with a voltex on our project car, but I still kept the stock wing for certain tracks. I think it really comes down to your entire setup for your car. Meaning if you have a front splitter and your power levels are not crazy then a large wing may be overkill. Also suspension plays a big factor.

As far as the apr wing, I've heard good things about the wing as a product. Again as far as improvement goes, it depends on the setup.

What is your current setup?

front has APR front splitter and canards and a CF hood. Rear has CF trunk. Suspension wise, whiteline everything, TRE rear diff upgrade, megan tracks. Car will also have a CF roof shortly and APR rear diffuser. Does that help?

Have you tested the car on track with the current setup? If so then what kind of issues are you experiencing?

Yes but your question isn't about looks it was about function. The biggest mistake (in my opinon) is by adding a bunch of items all at once and not having a base line to really compare it to (On Track). The reason why you probably weren;t getting a response to your question is because for motorsports people, everything needs to be tested especially with a base test to work off of. Everyone has a different setup and some people run a very large wing and some people run no wing at all. That's why I was curious about your setup. Without feedback about how your car is running on track it would hard for anyone to give you a recommendation.

Do you track the car at all or attend Driving Events? Are you looking to compete in a series like TA (time attack), Autox, etc?

I never had the "stock wing". Mine came w/ the OZ rally wing. I put on the APR wing and APR rear diffuser (to hopefully offset the additional drag of the wing). I picked up an easy 10mph in the "kink" at CMP. I'm able to hold more speed through fast, sweeping corners like the kink and the climbing esses at VIR.

EDIT: I drive DE3 on street tires with 350whp and Megan Coilovers.

DOUBLE EDIT: Headed to VIR in T minus 6 hrs. (I'm excited)

Its mainly a driving events car. I probably cannot afford to compete, but maybe the next owner might....

I understand your point. I was asking to see what the most popular true and tried combos were to gauge a general idea. Thanks for the explaination.

My suggestion would be to go to a DE and drive the car. Figure out what you like and don't like. If you end up needing a bigger rear wing, APR does have pretty good wings. GTC-200 is a good wing. What I would suggest is to call APR and talk with one of their techs there. Those guys have a ton of info and will probably be able to help you choose the right wing. Just be warned that they will ask some detailed questions about your car setup in order to help you choose the right wing. At least that's what they did for me when I got their front splitter.

Also sometimes the best option is going with the stock wing (with a gurney flap) and a vortex generator. If you have that setup already, try it out and see what results you get. The installation for an APR wing uses the same location points as the stock wing so swapping out wouldn't be an issue. Sorry for the long drawn out explanation.....

Thanks for taking the time, spt.

Well, I talked to someone at APR yesterday and told him about my aero setup which is predominantly APR and he suggested the GT-200 wing. He said the universal 200 wing has risers I can get to go taller in the clean air area to add downforce, but said it wasnt necessary and with a CF trunk, it may not be as stable since legs are in the middle. Said that GTC-300 is more for widebody cars.
