oil temp issue solved!

after seeing my oil temps on track days @133+C i decided to add this earl's 3"x13" cooler. return line from stock cooler to this cooler and to the return. it made quite a difference. my oil temps never went over 118C @last week's event, even when i didn't have clean air.

Did you see an overall oil pressure drop?

I wouldn't think it would effect it too much...

there was no difference in the oil pressure. i did have some concerns about that too, but greddy has a cooler kit that is meant to install this way, so i decided to give it a try.
the cooler was only about 80 bucks ?(earls, excellent quality!), about 6ft of braided line and the an fittings. well worth it to me. the oil temps were driving me nutz.
oh, added a little less than a 1/2 qt of oil.

Must be nice not to have the push fan and have room to install a cooler there.

I can barely fit my cool on the other side.

Nice to see it work.

P-Dog - Looks great

May have been cheaper just to buy a gauge that tops out @ 120C

By the way, what was the temp last week (ambient)?

We run it in a similar fashion, just with no stock core. Two Oxford Coolers. Just try not to exceed 8AN and both volume, and pressure will be fine. That along with a traditional accusump and your in good shape.

What sort of power level are you pushing and how long did it used to take for your oil temps to get above 118C?

He'll chime in, but let me take a stab at it:

he's about 420/430bhp - temps reached quickly!

Speaking of accusump, does anyone have any install dirs or pics? I know evolved had some on his blog but it was just a static pic of the sump itself, no hookup descriptions. Is this what a lot of ya use to have peace of mind for the oiling system (being no one's developed a 5 stage oil pump for 4g's yet )

yea, i took the pusher out. seems like i only drive the car to the track, go round and round, and drive home. water temp is fine, even sitting in the hot pit for a while. i've got full defi guages, oil temp, water and oil pressure. oil sender is on the oil block by the filter... love that small defi sender. couldn't get an autometer sender in there!
