PRESS RELEASE
May 2008

Nürburgring 24-hour race 2008:
Another double victory for KW competition and a hat-trick for Manthey Racing

• Overall victory and hat-trick in the world's greatest motorsport event
• First and second places overall on KW competition
• 7 class wins
• Over 70 racing teams put their trust in motor racing technology from KW
• "Nordschleife" expertise pays off for end customers

With yet another double victory in the world's most demanding long-distance classic, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and the third overall victory in succession for Manthey Racing, the corks were also popping at KW, the Fichtenberg-based suspension specialists. "What a fabulous day! Not only were we able to demonstrate our expertise on the Nordschleife circuit again today, but together with Olaf Manthey and the entire Manthey Racing Team we can also celebrate our third overall victory in succession in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. It's completely overwhelming, and my thanks go to all the teams who put their trust in our technology," said Jürgen Wohlfarth, CEO of KW automotive GmbH, after the end of the race.

Delight was also written all over Olaf Manthey's face at the winners' ceremony, since the race began with a short scare for his successful team from the Eifel region. The day before, on the Saturday, when the race started at 3 pm and 217 cars hurtled flat out down the start/finish straight, the Manthey Porsche, starting from pole, suffered a burst coolant hose just a few hundred meters after the start, forcing the team to make a pit stop. As a result, the Porsche GT3 RSR driven by Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb and Marcel Thiemann, which had started the race in number one spot, found itself back in 217th place and had then to fight its way to the front again with great effort. But by 11 in the evening the Manthey Porsche had caught up with the leaders again, and there were occasional dramatic battles for the lead throughout the night. Five hours before the end of the race, last year's winner Manthey was leading the field, with a gap of 3 laps ahead of another Porsche entered by Manthey Racing, bearing the start number 23. From then on the Manthey Porsche lying in first position reeled off the laps around the Eifel circuit with the precision of a Swiss watch. When the checkered flat fell at three o'clock it had covered 147 laps, and Manthey Racing with its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was able to celebrate the greatest success of its motor racing career.

On their wild ride through the Eifel, just like over 70 other racing teams, the conquerors of the "Green Hell" put their trust in the motor racing technology from KW automotive GmbH. Apart from 1st and 2nd places, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th also went to teams equipped with KW competition suspension. The result provides impressive evidence of the competence of KW competition on the “Nordschleife” (“Northern Loop”). All in all, KW can boast 6 top-ten results and 7 class victories.

And the findings from this race will once again influence the further development of KW coilover suspension systems. Because there is no better place for testing dampers and springs under realistic conditions than on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. The information compiled will benefit all KW customers, whether they choose KW sports suspension, KW coilover suspension or KW competition racing suspension.

Further information on the range of products offered by KW automotive GmbH, as well as application lists, can be found on the Internet at www.Kwsuspensions.de.
