Uh oh, looks like Robi will need to get to work on my car so we can run more than stock suspension this time! Can't wait to see that Suby there, I have a few other surprises for our competition to see at Summit aswell.

Oh and Taylor, you need to quit with the excuses and get your butt to Summit You run .002 different lap time from us, we NEED you there!

Robi is actually driving my car, although I hope to get a bit of seat time during the practice sessions. We will be running in the street class and hopefully the modified class aswell.

Just takes a little bit of work.

Alot of these guys who are picking up support have been funding their efforts out of their own pockets since we started our Time Attack series in 2006.

You've got to put out the effort and show the commitment before sponsors are going to be willing to give you money and/or products.

Make a road trip up to Summit Point and then to VIR and finish in the Top 5 on a shoestring budget.. then make improvements to the car during the offseason, and chase after sponsors for when we come back to your neck of the woods in 2009.

Exactly. I just picked up my sponsors last weekend. I have already invested total around $65K into the car over the years, and its not until now that I finally have sponsors. At this point, my sponsors have not done anything for me, although we are in the process of a few things before Summit As Nik said, after you show te effort and commitment, sponsors may follow, no promises though.

ummmm.

spon·sor (spŏn'sər)
n.
One that finances a project or an event carried out by another person or group, especially a business enterprise that pays for radio or television programming in return for advertising time.

My personal opinion is that the ricer community gives away free advertising to 'sponsors' making it harder to get some real interest in 'sponsorship'.

Remember: Stickers are not a sponsorship. They are free advertising for a vendor.

If you don't pay me, your stickers don't go on my car. Stop giving it away.

+1. I agree with you 100%, which is kind of a first. I would also note that free stickers do not add hp to your rice-wagon.

Unfortunately, I have no sponsors. Therefore, I have no stickers on my car (other than the required SCCA and NASA stickers, class letter designations, car number).

Im glad you were able to locate a dictionary. Furthermore, thanks for insinuating that I dont know what a "sponsor" is. I did not throw a bunch of stickers on my car and call them "sponsors". I am not one to advertise anything for free.

I said "At this point, my sponsors have not done anything for me." I did not say they were not going to do anything for me. Both Robispec and Forged Performance are doing alot of work on the car over the next 2 weeks. I have already talked with both companies about what the sponsorship involves.

Sponsorship is not just putting stickers on your car for free parts. There are many sides of a sponsorship that most people dont understand. Take a look at my car, there are almost no stickers on it at all. The stickers that are on the car did not get there easily. Sponsorship has nothing to do with paying you. I have financed everything on my car up to this point. My sponsors are simply helping me to keep my car competitive at the track. Im not your local ricer, so stop talking down to me...

Lighten up parnelli. No one was talking down to you.. (until now).. You gave your opinion, I gave mine.

So far you have said your 'sponsors' haven't done a thing for you.
So far you have said you have stickers on your car, that "did not get there easily."
So far you have said "Sponsorship has nothing to do with paying you."

I can't even comprehend that last one so i'll stop there.

I'm sure that Ferrari just gets all the red packs they can smoke.

Agreed, I did not phrase that last one correctly. Sponsorship does not always include paying you. For professional race teams, yes. In many and most cases, paying you is not a part of it. Go ask the cars owners sponsored by Robispec and see how many get paid from him. As said earlier, most people dont understand everything about sponsorships. In my case sponsorship is about allowing me to stay competitive for each track event and my sponsors make that easier for me. Its not about getting paid. Im done debating this. If you feel differently, thats your own opinion, as you said before.
