Anyone ever raced a modded VR-4?
Just curious what the outcome was, who got the jump, who pulled who etc.
Also, how stable are the EVO's at speeds around 140mph+?? Altho the 3kgt always gets dogged for it's weight, it's like a brick at very high speeds which is very comforting. How does the EVO VI/VII feel at those speeds?? Thanks!

Welcome. It all depends on how modded they are, and you're racing them in. I assume you're talking in an EVO, but since they aren't offically released in the US, you're not going to find many EVO drivers that have raced. A buddy of mine has an 2.5RS that does 13.7 in the 1/4 mile. He has beaten a couple slighty modded VR-4s. The vr-4's weight really hurts them at high speeds also.

Hello,
I have a evo 6 gsr here in the UK, and I can tell you that at 155+ mph the evo is very stable if you adjust the spoiler accordingly, you want maximum downforce off it, when goin this speed, it feels like some one is pushing down on the back of the car.. Very safe feeling.

Evo VI High speed stability
In the GTP Production car 2hr race at Bathurst (AUST) 2001, my evo VI Lancer reached speeds of 262 kph, 163 mph down conrod straight which carries on into Caltex chase this curve is taken flat out with no lifts, the car was very stable at these speeds. with the rear wing set flat. Steve
Evo's very stable at high speeds. Have maxed my 6 quite a few times as I live in Germany, I think it does about 155mph, but no more than that. Steve, that speed was obviously with a modded car, wasn't it? On the other hand mine's modded too, but revlimit's still the same
Michael,
If you hit the rev limiter 7700rpm in top it equates to 167.5 mph.
With standard gearing and newish tyres, so the rolling diameter is correct the car does 150 mph @ 6900rpm, so work it out yourself!
I've hit the rev limiter in top about 5 times with the speedo reading about 170 mph.

Yep, I've hit the rev limiter too with the speedo showing what it's showing in your car, but I really don't think the car's doing 167 mph, feels more like 155 mph. Speedo's get less accurate the faster you drive. The reason why I'm saying that is that I had a race with a 540i on the Autobahn and assuming that he was limited in his top speed to the 155mph my car was only very marginally faster when hitting the rev limitter. It certainly didn't feel any faster. At least my Evo looses a lot of its urge when driving faster e.g. over 100mph
