And rob, I agree the spectators don't get the freedom over here, but if ppl really want to be involved working is the best way to go.

They do here too...but you need camo and topo maps. 
Our hillclimb series in Colorado allows for open spectating, and tix are ~$10. PPIHC is still pretty open, but they're being a bit more careful these days since the road is getting paved and speeds of the race cars are going up.
