How to get into road racing/autocross?
I do a lot of auto x with scca and sccnh. Use to do w2w formula racing with the scca, which was fun but I want to do more TA & hillclimb stuff now.

Check out COM, great club with lots of track days. Some right at NHIS which is close to you.

Also check out scda.

Give me a PM some time and we can meet up at the track.

Alright well i would love to get into racing in competitions down the road where there is actually a prize involved.
I do understand why learning in an evo would be a mistake. The only thing is, the only vehicles i have access to are my evo and my gsx, and my gaurdians evo and gsx.lol. So i cant get my hands on a rwd car. I deffinatly would like to go to a driving school because ive never even set foot on a race track that wasnt a drag strip

one gsx is pretty much stock, and the other one isnt drivable right now.
let me rephrase that, one gsx is pretty much stock and i really wouldnt be too confident in that on the track due to some issues its had in the past and still has
and the other one plain isnt drivable

If you are looking for some entry-level competition, COM runs Time Trials on the second day of its events and gives trophies to the fastest drivers in each class.
More info here.
Seriously cheap*, seriously fun.
If you're looking to get into autocross, which I would recommend at least one season of before you get out on a track, there are clubs around you. Look them up online and just show up.
* "Cheap" is used in a relative sense, as there is nothing in racing that is actually "cheap." This poster makes no claims as to the actual cheapness of any type of racing, or any specific race, or the affordability of any race for any given EvoM user's wallet. The poster makes no guarantees of the cheapness of anything, and this information should be considered unreviewed, unreliable, and is to be used with extreme caution. Caveat emptor, results not guaranteed, and YMMV. Thank you.
One of these.

I was thinking about a 240sx?
As others have stated - check out COMSCC for track days and some competition. SCCA, not NASA for wheel to wheel for your area. Renegade Miata, SCCA autox, SVTOA for any autox at devens in MA. Great location.
The fun factor goes up with the budget. One day at these events will cost...
autox - $50
hpde- $600
wheel to wheel SCCA - $2000-$5000
Please don't go out and buy a new car. The evo is great and can be a lot of fun and easy to drive for a rookie. Don't get caught up in the structured path of a textbook racing driver. Have fun if thats the point. A member on here said it best - i think it was in response to someone calling the evo a crutch to a novice driver... "Best crutch evAR!"
So true....

240's are good, LOTS of parts available, cheap, fast, break a lot though, a Miata would be cheaper and easier, but some people have a complex
about being seen in one, most of us here don't however. If the other car is paid for, take it out first until it breaks, then go buy another / faster ride. Buuuut if your a project ***** like most of us, fawk it, go buy a project

As someone in your shoes, I'll tell you what I'm doing, I'm buying a Miata as a track car. Like the Evo, my WRX hides my mistakes too well, I can do things that would cause a spin or at least a freak out in another car and not even notice.
I learned in my old (slow) galant vr-4 on track, and an impreza 2.5 rs at auto-xing. slower cars are sometimes more fun as well, nailing the line in a slow car is so rewarding. But dont go out and buy a car to get started, just have fun in what you have. youre a novice, and probaly have a decade before youre good enough to win real money at real events.
