The event cost of a one day hpde is more like $200 - $300 depending on the club and track. That said, one day can approach $600 if you factor in fuel, maintenance, and hotel costs.

 

I went to my first auto-x in Nov of '06 and i was hooked right from the start. First thing - don't worry about winning. Just have fun and talk with the other drivers. I had a blast and i learned a lot too. That's one good thing about AX, you can only mod your car so much. I find it keeps me honest. I had an '03 Lancer OZ rally that i raced with before it got stolen. I now have an evo and i found a lot of stuff didn't apply from a FF car to an AWD car, so that was a surprise. I had to basically re-learn how to drive the car. I'm really looking forward to next season and improving my driving.

Just remember - the most important thing to mod is the DRIVER.
