Dave, the Hoosiers are 295/30/18. OD is 25.3 according to Tire Rack:

I lined them up side by side, and the height looks about the stock 235 snow tires I have on now. Just a helluva lot wider.
If I didn't splurge on house renovations... I might consider something fun like tearing up the fenders

I'm too young to be this senile! It's the 275's that are a 35 series tire. Rob and I spent most of this past year debating whether the 275/35 or 295/30 was faster on the solstice. A 295/35 is actually exactly what we needed for that car.
Well... since my stock clutch is slipping/not safe (10,750 miles or so) and I refuse to flush money down the toilet on another stock clutch to stay legal... I guess I'm joining the BSP dark side
OK so now that I'm getting to transition to BSP due to a clutch/flywheel change... what sort of tires should I be looking at? Since I'm having to readjust my plans & budget, I'll be on my 245/40 Star Spec street tires for a while until I can justify/afford stickies, but I can start my "Dear Santa" list early

From browsing the EvoX forum it looks like you can fit some wide stuff under there. I'd start looking at 10" or 10.5" wheels with 285+ width tires.
Hoosier is faster, but V710 is better value (more life). Kumho (at least in 285's) is also narrower and easier to fit.
Kumho also will NOT be supporting Solo this year with contingency, so if you plan to hit any National events and have a chance at winning Hoosier is probably a better bet.

Yep, thanks! Putting wider than 275 normally requires rolling the rear fenders, which I'm not terribly keen on depending on the offset (with 9.5" wheels)... Maybe with 10/10.5" wheels I can get some fatter stuff in there.
Hmm looks like the V710's don't come in a 275/xx/18, 285/30/18 is the only "close" 18" size.
TireRack has the heat cycled ones for $235 which seems awfully cheap in this size!
Of course, that's almost 4% off from the stock size (smaller), so I'll be putting down a ton more power (by changing the effective gearing).

It doesn't take much to make "national" level power. TBE, no cat, ported stock exhaust manifold, LICP, and a reflash for high octane gas. the end. you should end up somewhere in the 350WHP range with an evo9.
I'd guess the Millers are winning the power war in BSP at the moment on e85. Maybe we can get Frank to spill the beans on his setup.

IIRC he was spouting numbers north of 360-370hp on E85. From what I can tell all you really need is a consistent source of E85 and some 1000cc injectors.

I'm assuming you're quoting the 350 number on something like a dynojet. That would be pretty sick power on a DD or mustang.

I hate to disappoint you Marshall but we are putting down 342 hp at the wheels on E85 on a Dynapak. The E85 just gets the VIII about even with the IX. You still have the slightly bigger turbo and the MIVEC which should give you about a 30 hp advantage. I get about 320 on the race gas tune. My base was 292 whp which is why I went with a retune and the E-85.

If I get it back on a Dynojet again it should be getting up somewhere close to 500whp. . . Same cams, same turbo. I think the only things he changed are even BSP legal items

I'm hoping to make a trip to nationals this year, my BSP car has always made good power on a MD but with my recent switch to E85 the power department is doing good - 376whp/357wtq!
I am curious about how much weight reduction most of you have done? My car is still pretty heavy, I just want to know where the best places to take weight off a BSP evo?
