BFG g-force R1 R comps
I ran the Hankook C51 in the T.T and the AX....loved them (245/40/17).. I run the R1R toyo for my street tires (255/40/17) I also ran the R1R's full tread at Shenendoah for 2 track days and despite the negative comments from some on this forum about the Toyos I still like them..they are sticky. I have only ran the R1R's on the AX course once because it rained and they were awesome..I have no comment about the dry performance of the R1R at the AX.. we will see this season. Pete

I may just order up a set of BFG R1s for the season. I like that they can be had in the 255/40/17 size.
Does anyone know if they remain consistant during long sessions?

Hoosier and Goodyear both have a couple of compounds available that aren't too expensive. Of course they won't last very long and finding something bigger than a 15 or 16 might be hard.

The koni challenge tire fits. I don't know what compound it is though...

That's the problem.... I need them to fit the stock BBS rim and not F-up my gearing.
The R1 seems acceptable. Less than a grand and better than nearly all other R-compounds. I would welcome a full slick if I could find one.

265/35/18 r1 are about a 1/2 wider that 275/35/18 hankook c51. Just for comparrisons sake. I run the 265 on a 18x10 ... my neighbor runs 285 R1 on a 18x9 wheel on his mustang.. it fits..ish.... but kida defeats the purpose of having the stiff sidewall the bfg has.
I've found that putting more rubber on the ground is more important than keeping the sidewalls vertical, especially with R-compounds. The sidewalls are so stiff you don't really get tire rollover anyway. I run a 295/30R18 A6 on a 18x8 wheel for autocross. 255's will fit on 8" rims no problem.
Anyone have tire pressure recommendations for the BFG R'1's? What do they like to be run at. I've got 265/35/18's and just finished painting the wheels. So I'm ready to mount them. Wheels are 9.5.
I typically run max camber in the front, which is around -3.8 and put -1.8 out back. I'm open to alignment input as well though....

I'm just following the manual to start...around 36-37psi hot all around.
Running a 0 toe setup to prolong tire life a bit - similar alignment to yours otherwise if that helps (-3f, -1.3r)
I'm finding that the tires are scrubbing right down to the tips of the arrows on the shoulder and not over - about perfect for now.

if you were running your camber settings on the big track you will looses so much braking due the amount of cambers you have in which give you less contact patch to the ground. Your brakes is not the only thing slowing the car down. Also your rear have too much cambers which will make the rear way too tails happy at high speed turns which make the car unstable.
We have cambers and tires pressure setting base on track, configuration of the track, direction of the track track, track temp and boost.
