There should be a lotta info out there if you search.

If you've not been on-track before, I'd suggest signed up for a DE or HPDE (Driver's Event). This will put an instructor with you in your car which is what you want to get started.

If you have a specific track or group in mind - go for it. Else find something that fits your schedule. Local PCA, BMW, Audi, etc groups run events like these. Also NASA runs DE groups as well as some 3rd party groups which you'll need to ask around locally to find out about.

you can check out the SCCA website, find your local series, and at the beginning of the season they should have a novice class/ instructional day/ test and tune day. Its a great time to go out with some real experienced people and get some great advice. If you like it and want to continue, you could always run novice for the first year, or just jump into competition if you have a super fast learning curve. The main thing is to talk to a ton of people while your out there, make new friends and contacts.

Take a track driving class, there should be plenty available in your area. They should go over things like understanding the corner and the working zone, threshold braking, heel-toe, picking a line, etc. From there you just need a lot of seat time. Go to every available track day and practice, practice, practice.
