Going to be attending an Auto X in a few weeks. Just curious if anyone use any type of paint protection at the events. Blue painter's tape or others. I was surfing the internet and found this buyroadwrap.com. Anyone used that before? Thanks.

A guy at local events uses this stuff:

Works pretty well.

Edit: ha, it looks like the same stuff you linked to!

interesting stuff.

I started out using clear racer tape on the lower lip, and wheel arches, but quickly gave up on that. It's just a matter of time before you get rock chips (or a porsche goes off, throws rocks and cracks your windsheild ). I resigned myself to accept it, and after it gets bad to have the front repainted

I've accepted it. The sooner you do, the better off you'll be.

It's just a few cone marks It's probably better to have invisible shield applied to the front bumper. I had 3M invisible shield applied to a portion of my hood and five years later the difference versus others without is very apparent, saved myself from touching up 30+ rock chips.

Im one of those guys who used blue painters tape, once or twice, when i first started. After the 1st or 2nd time i got sick and tired and accepted it. Beyond that at some point you will feel like a pansy because hardly anyone else does it. But then one day you will see someone with practically their entire car covered with blue painters tape. Then you will feel better about yourself because you only used a little bit for your front end. And then at some point you will most probably get sick and tired of taping up your front end. And simply put, you will accept it. Or, you will try something easier like what the preceding poster suggested, some sort of a clear bra. I just accepted it and never tried anything else. But the clear bra might be your solution. But if you do use the painters tape, keep in mind that you have to position the tape strategically, otherwise it will come apart and start flapping all over your car and flying all over the place. In retrospect, if youre autox-ing, i seriously doubt youll actually need it. Everything i mentioned came from road racing.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will accept it however the car has barely over 2000 miles now. It's still too new to me.

I will let you guys know how the roadwrap works. Seems like a good solution; temporary clear bra.

I do however have the 3m headlight protective film. I recommend it highly. You can't repaint headlights!

Agreed.

There's a lot more risk of stone chips, scratches, etc. from daily driving than from racing, IMO.
