Exclamation To wing or NOT that is the question/ Failed Rear Wing

I didnt know that most of you havent seen my thread about my wing folding at high speeds. So here it is.

and contrary to most believe, no it wasnt hit or karate chopped or anything like that. It really happened and it scared the crap out of me. so my question to you guys is, should I go back to a stock wing (either a 8 or 9, doesnt matter), should I go wingless with a carbon lip (Rexpeed) or should I go big and get a APR GT300 wing? Whats your opinion.

holy crap! Define "high speeds"? We talking 200mph or 80mph? ETA: it looks like it dented the trunk too! WOW!

And I'm kind of a hard liner.

Evo = wing
Lancer = wingless

(unless you have an RS, but then you're too tired from rolling your own window down to bother raising a protest ).

The new X MR "Touring" is an abomination and needs to be killed with fire. Lip spoilers and duck bill crap are for BMWs.

Stock 8 wing!

The Rexspeed carbon lip is hideous IMO.

And I 100% agree with Sean... I hate wingless evos (sorry to those who go wingless.... )

Did you hit the dealer up for a warranty on that??

depends on what you want to do with the car. if you will just drag race the car might as well go wingless as that will increase you trap speed by around 1-3mph. if you will use your car for road course id say get a wing.

^im not a road course guy. I do like the look of a winged evo...no matter if stock or GT. But at the same time gaining some trap speed might be intaincing (sp?)

I think a really big wing would cause too much drag if the goal is high speeds. Big wings are made to generate a lot of downforce at relatively low speeds.. 100, 120, etc. at the cost of drag and fuel economy.

If high speeds are the norm, you want a sleek, strong, low drag wing.

my 2 cents on the matter.

the apr wings are sweet, but really only good for road coursing (any MAYBE autocross if your car was seriously fast). putting one on a street driven evo only isn't going to help anything (except make your wallet lighter, they are dang expensive).

get an evo 8 wing i happen to know someone selling a yellow evo 8 wing

I decided to get the Rexpeed Type-C spoiler for my car. It hasn't been delivered yet so I don't have pictures. I am trying to attract less attention to myself while driving through town.
