Great to have another fast track Evo in the DC area. Maybe sometime I can grab you as an instructor, if I get to the track this year.

They race those in Formula 1000? Is that what you plan on doing?

The Stohr is amazing. Set the DSR track record at Watkins this past weekend in it, 1:49.8. Crazy fast car.

I am racing it in the sports racer and formula group with SCCA. Raced it e.g. this past weekend at Watkins against formula atlantics, C + D sports racers, other formula cars etc. Won DSR and was 2nd overall (35 total). The starts are crazy fast compared to the SRF (which I am keeping as well for the close wheel-to-wheel competition).

We need to talk about this as the season unfolds. Are you planning for SCCA Nationals this year? Can you qualify?

Yes, I qualify in SRF. I could have won the division, but only ran one Great Lakes National, Mid Ohio. Ran Nationals in other divisions, mostly South East and North East. I have to technically run one more in division National to do the Runoffs, but I am not planning on going. I treated the Sprints as the championship. Same track and the same top competition. I had a top 3 shot, but had a mechanical. The Runoffs takes a full week, sometimes more to do testing, qualifying, and the race. Crazy.

I have only run one DSR race, so I won't qualify, but again, I don't care as much about the championship as much as I do just having fun and trying to win bigger races. I realistically think I would have a top 3 chance at the championship in both cars, although the competition is more fierce in SRF as really the top 10-15 in the nation can win any given weekend. The competition isn't as deep in DSR. I was mostly racing with formula atlantics this past weekend as 2nd place was running 2s slower. In SRF, 2s covers nearly the entire field, at least the top 20 in any given race.

PM or email for more details. Good luck this year in the EVO!!

No problem, all you have to do is request and they usually honor the request. You are the one paying the fee so they try to keep you happy.

Thx Chad,

Looking forward to learning the limits of the EVO. I am sure I have plenty to learn, the car did not get loose at all. I need the car to get loose so I will now what happens just before it looses traction.

If you you want to loosen it up, you have a lot of options. I softened the rear sway bar after the rear differential change. Before, it was full stiff. I wasn't sure how it was going to handle at Mid Ohio, so I started conservative. You could start there. There are also several things you can do to bump/compression to loosen it up. Let me know if you have any questions, at least regarding the adjustability you have. I know you know these things, but I can at least help with some of the range of changes you have right now, before considering stiffening the springs, for example. The way you drive the car is also going to be different than the GT3, e.g. you trail the brake more and you aren't on the throttle as early, otherwise it will push.
