There is some general advice. Other than that, i skimmed through this thread and would say NO to Hoosiers. There is no reason for you to run Hoosiers at a HPDE. Rather loosely speaking, start on some decent/inexpensive street tires.

I just started tracking myself, 2 days under my belt
Rotors, Pads and Brake Fluid
Power and Speed will come. I suggest you concentrate on getting to the track with an instructor and learning the characteristics of the car. Learn lines, braking, throttle inputs, looking ahead, tracking out... there is a lot your going to learn!
Seat time, seat time... and more seat time

I just read what Ed had to say about beginning and i can't agree more

I have had an instructor both days I have gone out and let me tell you, I would not have learned a DAMN thing had I not had Jonathan Martinez out with me

A lot of guys at the HPDE event are itching to dump their instructors, I think it is a missed opportunity. Here in Portland, our instructors are the guys qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday. They know the track, they know the common mistakes and they know how to have fun.
Last time out, most of the HPDE group shed their instructors, then it started raining. I kept my instructor and we experienced a completely different track. He taught me the rain line or squaring the corners. We took advantage of the allwheel drive, the ACD, and even a little oversteer
. I had my best laps in the rain thanks to my instructor's well placed tips.
Not all instructors will be perfect matches for you so if you don't have one you like, ask for a change. More are available after they clear the advanced group to drive on their own.
If you can remember this is driver training, not racing, you will learn and have fun.
