Gorman Ridge Rally

This rally was all about getting my head back in the game. With rny rallysprint behind me, i concentrated on the desert trails, and mountain passes that make up Gorman Ridge. Wow what a difference from forests on the east coast! On the desert trails, we got into a groove blasting down the faster corners.

We're working on a video but let's just say Gorman has some of the tightest, gnarliest roads i've experienced. The elevation changes were amazing. Just imagine powering up a 45 degree increasing elevation climb...except the top is a completely blind turn where a mistake means you literally jump off the size of a mountain. I wanted to stop driving multiple times just to take the time to appreciate the view.
Going through recce for powerline/wheatfield - these were legit mountain pass stages. Like Pikes peak style rolling off the side of a mountain if you go off kind of legit mountain passes.

...and lift off...

As always, rally is about consistency. We were on pace with the front runners Bill Holmes/Sean Gallagher, Michel Hoche-Mong/Marie Boyd, but dialed back a bit to set a more consistent pace, knowing it was more important to finish the rally. Kris Psara/Ian Fahring briefly challenged us in an open AWD class sti, when they overtook us on stage 12. They have a bit more power on us since we're running a Production class evo. That set up for a nice battle on the last few night stages on the mountain passes of Powerline/Wheatfield and Badger. Psara/Fahring ended up going off on stage 14 and lost 20-30 seconds. We took another 8 seconds off the last stage for the Production AWD win and 3rd overall finish!
