looks bad *** on the sti but for my MR. nope. I rather put it on the front. n also the rear.

You dont see a lot of Evo fix up over here in the south bay area. So putting on the tow hook front n rear would be sick....

A friend of mine thought up a neat solution to the front towhook issue. It requires a little fabrication and buying a screw in towhook like the one for the EVO X. Instead of bolting a plate of steel in the slot of the bumper beam, you bolt in a piece of steel that you drilled a hole into and tapped. This way when you don't need the towhook you don't have one hanging off of the front of your car. When you need it you just screw it in to the tapped hole in the piece that you bolted into the bumper beam...I think this is what I might try to do. If I end up doing it, I'll post pics.

Merged with other tow hook thread and moved to Motor Sports. The guys here can give some good inputs. I give the general dimensions in there. A metal shop should be able to pop two of these out and some backing plates for peanuts. Too bad HLM doesn't make them anymore.

( that old house garage was such a mess. New garage is way cleaner and organized!)

They are not in business anymore. But I gave measurements if you want to have your own fab'd.

Smike's install worked well for me, it was pretty easy. However, those hooks from HLM were not stainless... they rust rather vigorously.

Yearly tradition to re-spray paint If I still had my Evo, I was going to PC them.

Smike EVO what are those dimensions? What material did you use? What is the assumed load rating?

is the bumper beam strong enough to place a tow hook? or should we attach it to the frame of the car

I was just thinking about that. I'm sure it's strong enough, but I plan to use the chassis (I also plan to remove my crash beams is a big reason why).

I like Kyles setup but I think its more for a race car, I would be tearing my shins up on that thing. a street car IMO needs a removable tow hook, even better a folding removable tow hook.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sa...treet-use.html

it worked the one time I needed it, which happened to be the HPDE right after I installed it, go figure. it was bent into an oval instead of a ring from the tow truck driver yanking on it, but it still works fine.
I leave it in my center console and just screw it in when I'm on track, its on my 'to do' list. haven't banged my shin yet.

I tried looking for Hot Lap Motorsports Front Tow Hook, but it seems like the web page is down

Anyone know where I can find something similar?
