now we can watch the rally again in old time fashion
screw WRC...
who cares? citroen vs ford and 5 guys battle...

here is the a real deal:
news for 2010:
"Subaru has become the eighth registered manufacturer to join the Intercontinental Rally Challenge next year, alongside Fiat, Honda, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Proton, Skoda and Volkswagen.
The Japanese manufacturer, which pulled out of the World Rally Championship at the end of last year, will not run a factory team but will instead rely on private entrants to score manufacturer points in the IRC series."

I haven't been following the Rally scene lately due to hardly ever catching any coverage thanks to our local cable provider. So is the WRC pretty much dying? Why are all the manufacturers pulling out, was it cost or other factors? Looks like the IRC will be good to follow.
WRC is not dying its just only Peugeot, Ford and Citroen are the only ones that keep winning now days, plus speed channel has been going gay for awhile when they stopped showing WRC (the real car racing) instead they show stupid *** nascar ( a bunch of cars going in a ****ing circle)..

IRC is the rally series to watch. I didnt know the Pegueot is in the WRC still..
yeah according to the website:
http://www.wrc.com/index.jsp
I only see Ford and Citroen listed as manufacturers. Kinda wierd not seeing Mitsu and Subuaru there honestly.
BTW what is that obnoxious squealing noise that is in sync with the RPM's?

yes , its only 5 teams in the WRC as a factory team... as those teams represent two Factory. One british and one French.... Citroen and Ford....
Both nation is the FIA main source. Interesting doesn't it?
So the rules was twisted and formed to out fit, the basically unbeatable countries before, like : Germany - Italy - Japan.
They inventions and so was slowly banned out, so they were forced to quit the WRC.
Like the Mitsubishi /stay home in this matter
/ was forced to run a WRC car after they were unbeatable they grupe A cars. Which basically put a shame on the whole WRC crowd... Never mind French and British.
Since then i stay away from WRC ... I dont like when you cant win honestly, then pull the rule and politics gun . For me is a low human behavior. Not sports man like, never mind rally
Hm.... Sure i wasn't the only one
, since they started to tailor the rules to favor they own countries engineering ideas in rally, and start banning others ideas, the popularity started to dry out /around 2003/. You know the people are not that stupid to see what is going on.
That attitude is far a way from any sport. And they deserve it.
Now they start making moves to be more "people" - amateur friendly and not manufacturer... And the only reason is for that is the IRC.
But i hope its too late. Those people deserve it, they dont do it for the sport so there for i dont think we need them .
People started to go to the IRC, because it is represents the roots and the idea about rally. So as the fans...
The WRC represents big corporations and cold marketing - money scene. That is not Rally. It is NASCAR. That is why i call the WRC is the EU nascar.
thats all now, i had to vent . Sorry

It's wierd, I used to think it was the driveline but it seems to be directly timed to the RPM's jumping around and sounds like a strange whistling/squeaking noise. Could it be air rushing through the intake path and all the restrictors they have in place? It almost seems like an electrically produced feedback noise not some 300-350 HP engine.
From the WRC site:
34mm (1.35") is crazy small to restrict the turbo inlet down to... amazing they get any power out of the cars at all.
Robevo thanks for the rant, gives a good outlook on the rally scene even if your sentances are hard to read sometimes.
From the WRC site:
To limit power, all forced induction (turbocharged) cars are fitted with a 34 mm diameter air restrictor before the turbocharger inlet, limiting the air flow to about 10 cubic meters per minute. This air flow limits power output of the engine to 300 hp officially, although the latest WRC engines are believed to produce around 330-340 hp in spite of the air restrictor. With this technologically easy to achieve, engine development is focused towards producing an engine with a very wide powerband (or power curve). Generally speaking, a power output in excess of 300 hp is available from 3000 rpm to the 7500 rpm maximum, with a peak of 330-340 hp at around 5500 rpm. At 2000 rpm, which is the idle speed in "stage" mode, the power output is slightly above 200 hp.
