Dave - I just watched the video from facebook of temples canyon..... holy *****. You are really turning it up now! The car is gnarly fast on the dirt with the 35R. It snaps through a gear with a fare share of wheel spin in the bat of an eye. It's really bizarre to see an EVO on the dirt with real top-end instead of the crappy restrictor type powerband. The thing sounds so awesome, what are you revving to? It seems like you didn't have to deal with much lag, so I assume you kept it up above 4K all the time and let it rip.

Best of luck getting things dialed and being able to run without issues at Pikes Peak!

Thanks guys. Another day of thrashing, and now off to bed for a 2 hour nap before heding out to the mountain. Going to drive out to the road from the hotel to get a few more breakin miles on the setup.

I'm looking forward to meeting all the out of towners tomorrow, and ran into Bill already. He's pretty amped up too!

Our motor which ran fine all last year shot a rod out at CORE two weeks ago. The leading guess on the failure is that we tuned the car for PPIHC last year and kept the same tune in the car all year. CORE is our lowest elevation event, so what was a safe tune at 9-14,000 feet in elevation might've not been conservative enough when the car was racing at 5,000 feet.

We got back on the hill Wednesday morning with a new 2.3 stroker, but the timing belt shredded on the way down after run number 2. Tried to pull the head off on the side of the highway to figure out what was up, but I'm not that great of a mechanic, so unfortunately it just ended up being a bit of a waste of time. Got the car moved up to SCR Performance where we tore into it further. With the head off, we found bent valves, but the short block looked good. Due to the time crunch, our options were to drop in my stock IX motor, or keep the short block and bolt up my stock head. We went with the head swap route and made practice on Thursday morning...just missed gate closure by ~5 minutes.

After the first run this morning, we had low oil pressure, and a 'self inflicted' steering rack issue. The car also needs an allignment in a serious way, so we packed it in for the day. We towed back to Denver right after practice, made some calls, and I finally got some sleep! We're in the process of tearing down the motor at Tobz Performance to find the culprit and hopefully make it back out for qualifying tomorrow morning.

What a week...

Dave
