? About 5 point harness

Guys with roll cages. I tried to find info on NHRA.com and other sites about the submariane ( crotch belt) attachment and cant find a solid answer. I was wondering if i can attach it the seat uderside or a spot on the seat frame. Or do i need to drill and set an "I" bolt through the floor board. thanx B

An attachment to the seat under body isusually fine for the fifth belt, but most FIA rules prefer them attached to the floor.

We personally drill through the floor and attached with big FIA plates to the underside.

Go to www.rallynuts.com for mount kit, eye-bolts and even harnesses, if your still after the harnesses go with the SRS 3" units for around 90 Gb pounds.

Drill through the floor and make sure to use a backing plates for your anchor points.

I'm sure you already know that with any 5 or 6 pt. belts, you require a hole in the bottom of the seat to pass the crotch belts through. Going around the front of the seat is not acceptable – ever!

A 60 mph crash is like a 140 foot fall. The impact is like jumping off a 12 story building. Consider what is holding you back at the point of impact: the belts, H&NR & seat. They all have to be mounted properly to be able to do that and work in unison as one. Don't use your own creative install methods in hopes of saving the interior trim from damages – doing so may make the equipment you are installing useless or more dangerous.

Recall the forces being generated on impact can be easily be in excess of 3000lbs (the weight of most sports cars). Don't go skimping on a $25 bag of appropriate nuts and bolts after you spent several hundred on your harnesses. You cannot use the generic 30 cent mild steel nuts and bolts available at your local Sears hardware store. Also, there are specific ways you need to loop your belts around the supplied hardware. Make sure you follow the proper instructions.

This is what I did. I have 2 subbelts and I drilled holes and have 2 different eyelets under the seat. Be careful on the outside one; the fuel lines (I think they're fuel lines?) can be pretty close.

Here's a pic of what mine look like. Note they are reinforced underneath the car with about a 3x3 backing plate:
