Is that a new or fairly new stage at Rim?
Lake Superior Pro Rally is the US season finisher.
It's great that there is another one, finally. Let's hope for more.

From what I gather, they have had it for at least 2 or 3 years at the Rim. Although it's quite barbaric, it's just a paved fire road leading to the fire station posts in the mountains. I would have taken pics had it not been raining, hailing, and cold. California in May is not supposed to include light snow.

Magic Mountain (Santa Clara Divide Rd.) has been a Rim of the World stage since at least 1996. That said, it is not 100% tarmac. The first 4 miles are broken tarmac, and then you jog right onto loose gravel for about 1 mile, and then it alternates between tarmac and gravel.
Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that Brockway is "America's Only All-Tarmac Stage."
Oh, and for any local SoCal guys that want to drive Santa Clara Divide Road -- it's a fun drive, but be careful, there are quite a few cyclists on that road!

Thanks for clearing that up I only drove about 2 miles up that stage before I had to return to the start to set up banners, so I didn't realize it is only partially tarmac. So I guess that does mean that this thread shows the only completely tarmac stage in America. I used to want to drive through the Spunky Canyon portion when I still had my stock suspension on. But now that I have lower suspension set up for autocross, I don't want to risk ruining anything. But once again, thanks for the info, coming right from a true expert who has studied these roads as much as anyone.
