Professional Awesome Redline Time Attack NJMP overview
Hello all,
I will try and keep this as brief and straight forward as possible, but I wanted to let people know how we did, and give an honest opinion about the products we used including those of our sponsors.

First off, we are really proud of our 3rd place finish less than 3 tenths behind Cobb's STI. Everyone was great to hang out with and it's nice to know our hard work is paying off. You don't have to be a big dog with lots of cash to be competitive, but it does help! We look forward to the Autobahn event as it is more of a technical track and power won't be as big of an advantage.
As far as grip goes we are currently using KW Suspension's Competition Two Way adjustable coilovers and I am reasonably happy with them. I feel there is a lot more speed once we start adjusting everything and hopefully with some revised spring rates we can find more grip out there. They held up great considering my liberal use of rumble strips and run off area at track. Also, we have, in my opinion, huge spring rates, but the dampers give a very smooth and controlled ride. I wouldn't see why you couldn't use these on the street, very impressive.
We are using Hankook RS-3 tires and I am BLOWN AWAY with their grip and durability so far. We have one test day and one Time Attack day on them and they look great so far. To top it off, they are just as fast in our testing as brand new Nitto NT01s!!
We hit a sustained 1.5g cornering in the banked high speed turn at NJMP! This was also with our custom splitter and rear diffuser and hopefully we can either build or be supplied with a rear wing to match to finish off the full aero package.
For power we are using MA Performance's SST turbo. Ours happens to be an Evo VIII housing rebuilt for their new wheels. I don't have any specs on the turbo and we literally put it on the day before leaving for the event, but so far so good. It reaches full boost extremely early, around 3500rpm (which is better than our old TME turbo), and holds boost all the way to redline. The transient response isn't as nice as our old TME, but this is only noticeable at low rpms. We need to find more power as we are getting smoked on the straights, but hopefully that's just a dyno session away. We street tuned it about one hour before putting it on the trailer to tow it out and it was very nice having a Zeitronix Wideband and Boost sensor permanently installed to ensure we didn't blow anything up. We also are using T1 Race Development Injector Dynamic Bosch 1000cc injectors... These preformed flawlessly for us and I am not sure why people have issues with these, but we never have had any issues.
Last year we blew a head gasket at the very end of the year which was very frustrating. We are still on a stock block and head but we added a Cosworth headgasket and ARP undercut studs and everything has been great so far. Last year we also melted the stock LICP coupler, so this year we switched to a JM Fabrications LICP and we haven't had an issue since. We also added a Blox engine mount which has improved shift quality a substantial amount. To round out the engine with installed a Exedy Triple Disk clutch and I am blown away with how easy it is to drive. I just wanted the standard Twin Disk, but unfortunatly everyone was out of the rebuild parts, so we converted our to the Triple and I will say it is a great upgrade. It is as easy, if not easier to drive than the Twin and I can shift even faster... pretty sweet.
The wheels, there was more of an issue. We are using 5Zigen F1N0RC 17x9 35mm offset wheels and the issue of concern is under track conditions everytime we checked the lug nut torque, this lugs would rotate a little. We had to do this over and over again and this made us nervous everytime we rotated the tires or had to check the suspension because it seems that the lugs would seat deeper and deeper into the wheel. Eventually this stops, but it takes a while and when we are constantly rotating tires, you have to start the process all over again. We are using Blox Racing chromoly lug nuts and ARP studs and these all held up great. 5Zigen's customer service has been top notch, but until further notice, make sure to keep checking lug nuts over and over again.
I use a Sparco Evo II Plus seat and being 6'3" and 165 lbs, this is about the only seat that safely works for me. Most every other seat I tried had the harness slots too low to safely work with a Defnder (similar to Hans) device. I noticed a lot of people didn't have their harnesses correctly installed and I think this should be priority when considering driver's safety.
We completely redid the brakes. Last year we ran Racing Brake ET800 pads, which are great... for the street. This year we went with Raybesto ST43 pads along with GiroDisc Titanium shims and this was one of our biggest improvements to date! I don't know if it is the pads or the shims or both, but we have zero brake fade, which was a huge and dangerous problem last year. These pads wear like iron, are easy on the rotors and the only drawback I can think of is noise. They are super loud, perfect to frighten small children at the track, not so great to cruise around on the streets. Awesome brake pads, awesome shims!

I know this may sound like a sponsorship love fest, but these are all my honest opinions and well, we couldn't afford to add any non sponsorship parts as we are just a few guys and a garage. Thanks for reading and hopefully next time we will be higher up on the podium!

Congrats on the good showing for your first event of the year, with lots of new parts on the car!!!
Best of luck for the rest of the year.
BTW, did you get some vids or other pictures that you care to share from the event???
