Monticello Track Data

Last year I only ran the south course and it was just ok. This year, ACNA managed to reserve the full course and it was amazing. The full course is full of technical turns and surprises. It takes a long time just to remember each turn.

Video of the last session.

[/QUOTE]

Data from that session

I used a $5 phone App to log data and it was well worth it lol. Besides lap times and graphs, this app provides an excel spreadsheet of the entire session, including lateral G’s, speed, etc…

Here’s more data from earlier sessions

I searched for other track data from Monticello just for comparison sake and couldn’t find anything. Then I remembered the Cadillac V-Series Challenge

http://www.rpmgo.com/the-results-are...ts-m3-m5-evo-x

The times were as follows: Wes Siler – 3:08; Michael – 3:05; Bob Lutz – 2:58; BMW M3 – 2:54; Cadillac CTS-V, driven by Aaron Link – 2:48; CTS-V driven by John Heinricy – 2:46. It turns out that out of the top 7 lap times, 6 of them were achieved by a CTS-V.

Man I want a data logger...

I had almost identical top speeds according to my speedo...high 130's. No idea what my laptimes were but you can probably time some of the vids to get some comparos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06F-Q...rom=PL&index=3

Wow that does look like a complicated course, no wonder Brock canned it for the 2010 One Lap event as there would have been too many of course excursions running that road course without practice. Looks like both of you were moving right along, that phone app is great info too!

I've heard monticello is a pretty sweet track. I"d like to get there at some point since I don't live far away. I think njbmwcca was having a weekend there this year too.

Is ACNA the only group you do events with? I'm trying to see which groups in the area evo owners tend to go to the track with. I went to an HPDE for the first time last year with a buddy and the del val chapter of bmwcca and all I want to do now is do more events but wouldn't mind being at something with some other evo owners

Not necessarily, I run with whoever accommodates my schedule. Regardless of who you sign up with, you will always run into an evo

Here's a 2007 911S in the instructors group, with on screen data.

I tried out trackmaster too recently and was pretty pleased. I was going to buy a 5hz external GPS to use with the app so that I could analyze my lines, but I could not get the GPS to play with HTC Sense UI.

Nice times btw! I was there this spring and only just managed to break into 3 minute laps in my stock evo.

Most of your laps were closer to 2:50. What was the trick to find 2:46? (Did you dump your dead-weight instructor??? )

Checked out the video...it looks like you finally got a traffic free lap and then hit your stride! Nice driving.

I believe that’s a rental setup. There was a guy at the event charging $40 for a video set up and an additional $10 for the telemetry (per session).

This was from the last session. By then, I was more comfortable with the track and traffic was very light. I only passed 2 cars in the 2:46 lap and I didn't have to wait long for the point-by. There is still a lot of time to be made on that track, easily 4-5 seconds with my current setup.

I also clicked off at 140mph there running the full course with COM in May. Absolutely amazing track. Had a nice off at the left kink but kept her on the grass and off the walls.

Monticello is an amazing track. I've run the full course twice this year both with NASA/PDA and COMSCC. Lord willing, I'll be returning 9/17 to run with NASA/PDA again.

The carousel leading into double apex is an absolute thriller and is my absolute most favorite part of any track i've ever been on. The long kinked straight leading uphill to those sharp esses is amazing..

Definitely on the dangerous side, though not as scary as Lime Rock
