rear brake pins

I did 2 track days at Pocono this w/e with new rotors and pads. I noticed a hell of a lot of squealing the entire time although the pads worked fine and chaulked it up to a new compound I was using.
When I went to change the rear pads to drive home, the pins and the cross spring were gone! WTF! I know I put them in there.
Has anyone ever had this happen at a track event?

Happens to most everyone when you start pushing it hard. You need to drill a tiny hole at the end of the pins and place a cotter or similar pin in it in order to prevent that.

had it happen once in 50+ days. Had an extra set sitting around, only lost one pin, spring was still there somehow.

Yeah - I had that happen after an autocross and was like

What drill bit size is used to drill a hole in the pin? Seems like you'd need a water jet drill!!

whatever size your using for your selected pins, tiny basically. Also make sure you grind one edge flat so it doesnt slip off.
