When I was running the 245 tires I had the car slammed and couldn't fit the new tires on the car. I raised it up to fit the 255.
245s on a 9.5 wheels is a serious stretch and the car is going to slide like crazy. Having the car too low so that your suspension can't work right didn't help. Plus the 1" difference you mentioned. No wonder the car was all over the place LOL. Good that you are fixing it. That's a lot of problems.

That's about what I run for my road race setup, but I know AX usually go nuts on camber, especially on the front. My car does pretty well at AX, even with the "conservative" alignment. I also have 9.5" wheels with 255 RE71s and haven't had much problem with them (I do have to modulate the throttle.. a LOT). I'm running 9k front springs and 10k rear and a Robispec rear bar (25mm) set in the middle, if I remember right. I have a stock front sway bar, PSRS, and home-made sway bar endlinks. I restacked the rear diff and had my ACD ECU reflashed. So, a few differences, so take it for what it's worth. For the most part, you should have everything needed to make it work. Just hang in there.

FWIW, I switched to 26psi (or thereabouts) on my RE71R last year and liked the change. I thought it was crazy at first, but the car was noticeably less skate-y afterwards. Just make sure your rake is sane.

245 is 9.6". They arent stretched by any means but certainly more tire would be better. I did run 255s on 10" wheels and they are pretty much straight up.

Depends on tire, I guess. I had 245s on a 9" wheel that were stretched. My 255 re71r is stretched on my 9.5" wheel, but my RS3s weren't. What 255 are you running on a 10" wheel, without stretching??
FWIW My definition of "stretch " is anything that doesn't have a straight sidewall.
I wanted to thank you all for your insight and thoughts. I will be reporting ack on my setup and give updates.
I also wanted to share a photo of my recent set of 245 RE71R with 3/32nds tread life
These I sold used, and mount the new 255 on my 9.5 17". I think I parted ways a little too early on the 245s. I was blaming the tire for my issues and think it was my suspension all along. Now that I've got new tires, alignment, suspension setup I hope to post positive results.
Nothing wrong with a 245 on a 9.5, actually that perfect. I am running a 265 on a 10.5
Like I said, maybe it depends on tires and also a bit on what you are comfortable with. For me, I like how a 255 = 9" wheel, 265 = 9.5, 275 = 10", etc. Even that differs. My 255 Hankooks fit a 9.5" perfect. 265 on a 10.5 is impressive.
As I've said in other threads, my 255 NT01's sit pretty much square on a 10" wheel. It depends on the tire, but a 9" wheel is too narrow for just about any 255.
